Episode 2 of ‘Baki Hanma’ had the most surprising reunion of all time. Season 2 of Baki Hanma is the sequel to Netflix’s Original Anime ‘Bai Hanma: Son of Ogre’. The anime is based on the martial arts manga, ‘Baki the Grappler’ by Keisuke Itakagi.
Baki Hanma Season 2 is based on the Pickle Arc Manga and is split into two parts. Part 1 is titled ‘The Pickle War Saga’, whereas Part 2, which is ‘The Father vs Son Saga’ is all set to release on August 24, 2023.
Baki Hanma Season 2 Episode 1: Recap
In Episode 1, a bunch of miners finds a T-rex and a giant humanoid preserved in the salt rock formation. Dr. Albert Payne revives the giant humanoid (Pickle) which goes on a rampage when he realizes his prey, T-rex, has been taken from him.
Pickle destroys the police cars and Army’s Multi-Purpose Battle Machine (MPBM). Captain Strydum offers Pickle his hand as a sign of respect and Pickle realizes that the Captain means him no harm. Episode 1 ends with Strydum deciding to take Pickle to Japan.
Baki Hanma Season 2 Episode 2 Review: Primitive Pickle
On arriving in Japan, people are in awe of the size of Pickle and the fact that he is over 200 million years old. One reporter gets too close to Pickle, who is fascinated to see a beautiful modern woman. His primitive instincts take over and rapes the woman reporter. He refuses to stop even after being assaulted by the guards.
The entire country of Japan is shocked by the incident. Dr. Albert Payne decides to address the nation and tells him that Pickle is primitive and has no concept of right and wrong. Protestors gather up at the facility where Pickle is being held and demand justice for the act.
Yujirou Hanma is among the protestors. He walks towards the main gate and his sheer aura is enough to scare the guards. They decide to fight amongst themselves rather than call for backup or run away. That’s how powerful Yujirou Hanma is, who destroys the gate with a wave of his hand.
Baki Hanma Season 2 Episode 2: A Unusual Reunion
Retsu Kaioh sneaks into the base in which Pickle is being held. He’s enraged by what Pickle did and decides to fight him. When he reaches Pickle’s lair, he discovers that he wasn’t the only one who had the intention of fighting him.
He runs into Kosho Shinogi, Doppo Orochi, Jack Hanma, Gouki Shibukawa, Katsumi Orochi, and Jaku Kaioh. They understand that they all want to fight Pickle. As they are discussing who will fight Pickle first, Yujirou Hanma makes an entry.
He mocks them all and when Katsumi Orochi kicks him, he not only dodges the karate kick, he also unties his shoes. Yujirou then walks through the glass barrier and fist-bumps Pickle. There is a massive soundwave when their fists collide. All of a sudden, sirens start blaring and the United States Army requests Yujirou not to harm Pickle as he is a Cultural Treasure. Yujirou tells them that he and other fighters were just greeting him and decided to leave.
Episode 2 was thrilling as we saw some of the strongest characters in Baki come together. It will be interesting to see who fights against Pickle in the future. Episode 2 of ‘Baki Hanma: Son of Ogre’ Season 2 is now available on Netflix.
