‘Baki Hanma Season 2’ is finally here. The fighting anime is the popular sequel to Netflix’s Original Anime ‘Bai Hanma: Son of Ogre’. Baki is based on the martial arts manga, ‘Baki the Grappler’ by Keisuke Itakagi.
Season 2 is based on the Pickle Arc from the manga, and will be split in two parts. Part 1 is titled ‘The Pickle War Saga’, whereas Part 2, which is ‘The Father vs Son Saga’ is all set to release on August 24, 2023.
Baki Hanma Season 2 Episode 1: New History of Mankind
Episode 1 starts with Captain Strydum visiting Baki. Baki Hanma has recently returned from Arizona State Prison after defeating Biscuit Oliva. Captain tells Baki Hanma about a man who is stronger than the Tyrannosaurus, the apex predator during the Jurassic Period.
While mining, an expedition of miners found a T-rex (Tyrannosaurus) and a giant humanoid preserved in salt rock formation. They quickly contact their higher-ups who send Dr. Albert Payne, a Nobel Laureate, to look into the issue.
Dr. Albert Payne explains that it is possible to bring back ‘Pickle’ to life. Dr. Albert and his team take all the necessary measures to create a suitable environment for Pickle’s revival. After 91 days, Pickle comes back to life.
Baki Hanma Season 2 Episode 1: Who is Pickle?
Pickle is revived by the smell of the T-Rex steak, made by one of the scientists, Allen. Pickle after waking up is shocked to find himself in unfamiliar surroundings but he immediately recognizes a familiar scent, the scent of the T-Rex.
Standing over 8 feet tall, Pickle takes the Steak from Allen and swallows it whole. Allen tries to fight back by firing his gun at Pickle but the bullets deflect the thick muscles of the primitive man. Pickle takes one of the bullets and throws it back with so much force that it pierces Allen.
Pickle is about to kill Allen when he smells the T-Rex once again. Allen finally manages to trap Pickle and calls the police. Dr. Albert Payne warns him that the police won’t be enough and that they need the entire United States Army.
Pickle easily destroys the police cars and the Army’s MPBM (Multi-Purpose Battle Machine). Captain Strydum who is the head of the United States Army strips naked and walks towards Pickle and offers him a hand as a sign of respect.
Pickle doesn’t understand what Strydum is saying but realizes that he means no harm. He shakes the Captain’s hand and the Captain decides to take him to Japan.
