Season 2 of ‘Baki Hanma‘ is all set to air in a few days. Season 2 is the popular sequel to Netflix’s Original Anime series ‘Baki’. The popular anime series is based on the martial arts manga, ‘Baki the Grappler’ by Keisuke Itakagi.
Baki Hanma is the main protagonist of the manga/anime. When he was just 13, he decided to take his training into his own hands, with the sole aim of getting revenge on his father, Yujirou Hanma. Yujirou is ‘The Strongest Man in the World’ and Baki must prove to him, that his son is worthy of fighting ‘The Ogre’.
As the anime is a Netflix Original series, it will be available on Netflix. Here’s a look at the order to watch Baki Hanma, if you’re new to the anime.

Fans can either start from the older iterations of the anime or directly watch the Netflix Production ‘Baki’ (2018) which has better animation compared to the older ones. Adapted from the first saga of the second manga series, Baki centers on the all-out war between the esteemed martial artists of Japan and those of the dark underground world. Baki after winning a brutal underground tournament continues on his path to defeat his father.
Tokugawa Mitsunari, the tournament organizer, visits Baki and tells him that five death row inmates have escaped and that they all are headed to Tokyo to fight Baki.
In ‘Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen’ (2020), which is the sequel to the first anime, Retsu Kaiou brings a poisoned Baki to China, where he learns about the centurial tournament Raitai Tournament. Baki must fight in the tournament, as it holds the cure for his poison. Baki also learns that his father will be taking part in the tournament. In this season, Baki also fights Mohammad Alai Jr, the son of famous boxer, Mohammad Alai.
In the most recent iteration of the anime, Baki feels that he is ready to finally challenge his father, Yujirou Hanma, the strongest man in the world. In ‘Baki Hanma: Son of Ogre’ (2021), Before fighting Yujirou, Baki decides to take on Biscuit Oliva, who is considered to be the Strongest Man in America. Baki gets himself imprisoned in the Black Pentagon, home of the most violent criminals, and Biscuit Oliva. However, in addition to his desired fight, other terrifying fighters also await him.
Baki Hanma Season 2 Episode 1: Release Date
Season 2 of the anime is based on the Pickle Arc from the manga. Baki Hanma Season 2 will be split into two parts. Part 1 is titled ‘The Pickle War Saga’ and Part 2 is ‘The Father vs. Son Saga’. The first episode from Part 1 will be available on July 26, 2023, whereas Part 2 will be available on August 24, 2023.
