Demon Slayer Season 5: Release Date, Plot, Characters and Trailer

Don't miss

Demon Slayer is one of the most popular anime series in recent years, with millions of fans eagerly following the adventures of Tanjiro Kamado and his sister Nezuko, who became a demon after their family was slaughtered by a powerful demon lord. The anime is based on the manga series by Koyoharu Gotouge, which ran from 2016 to 2020 and has sold over 150 million copies worldwide.

The anime adaptation started in 2019 with the first season, which covered the first 53 chapters of the manga. It was followed by a feature film, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which was released in 2020 and became the highest-grossing anime film of all time, earning over $500 million at the box office. The film adapted chapters 54 to 69 of the manga, which comprised the Mugen Train arc.

The second season of the anime, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc, premiered in October 2023 and adapted chapters 70 to 97 of the manga, which focused on Tanjiro and his friends infiltrating a red-light district where a powerful demon was hiding. The season ended with a cliffhanger, as Tanjiro learned that his sword was damaged and needed to be repaired by a skilled swordsmith.

Fans are now wondering what will happen next in the story, and when they can expect to see the fourth season of the anime. Here is everything we know so far about Demon Slayer Season 5.

One point of clarification before we begin: Demon Slayer Seasons have different names depending on the source. The previous season (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc) was officially labeled as Season 3, not Season 4.

But some websites or official social media pages may use the term Season 4 instead. This discrepancy is due to the fact that Season 2 was divided into two parts.

To avoid confusion, the upcoming season will be referred to as Season 5 in this article.

Will there be Demon Slayer Season 5?

Will there be Demon Slayer Season 5

Yes, there will be Demon Slayer Season 5. The official confirmation came shortly after the finale of season 3 (aka 4) aired in Japan, on June 17th, 2023. A blog post on the official website announced that Demon Slayer Season 5 will adapt the Hashira Training arc of the manga, which consists of chapters 128 to 136. The post also revealed a teaser trailer and a key visual for the upcoming season.

Demon Slayer Season 5 Release Date

Demon Slayer Season 5 Release Date

The exact release date of Demon Slayer Season 5 has not been announced yet, but we can make some educated guesses based on the previous seasons and the production schedule of the animation studio Ufotable. The first and third seasons of Demon Slayer both premiered in April, while the Mugen Train movie and season 2 both premiered in October. Assuming that Ufotable follows a similar pattern, we can expect Demon Slayer Season 5 to premiere either in April or October of 2024.

However, there is another factor that could affect the release date: the length of the season. The Hashira Training arc is relatively short compared to the other arcs of the manga, spanning only nine chapters. This means that Demon Slayer Season 5 could be a mini-season with only a few episodes, similar to how Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2 had only ten episodes. Alternatively, Demon Slayer Season 5 could also include some filler episodes or original content to extend the season.

Demon Slayer Season 5 Plot

Demon Slayer Season 5 Plot

Demon Slayer Season 5 will continue from where season 3 (aka Season 4) left off, with Tanjiro visiting the swordsmiths’ village to get his sword repaired. There, he will meet Himejima Gyomei, the Stone Hashira, who will offer to train him for the upcoming battles against the demons. Tanjiro will also reunite with some of his friends and allies from the Demon Slayer Corps, such as Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, Kanao Tsuyuri, Genya Shinazugawa, and Nezuko Kamado.

The Hashira Training arc will focus on Tanjiro’s development as a demon slayer, as he learns new techniques and skills from various Hashira (the elite members of the Corps). He will also discover more about his unique abilities as a descendant of Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the legendary demon slayer who was able to use all forms of breathing styles. Tanjiro will also face some challenges and tests from Himejima and other Hashira, who will push him to his limits.

Meanwhile, Nezuko will also undergo some changes as a demon who can resist her bloodlust and survive in sunlight. Her powers will attract the attention of Muzan Kibutsuji, the leader of the demons and the main antagonist of the series. Muzan will send his minions to capture Nezuko and use her blood to create more powerful demons. Tanjiro and his friends will have to protect Nezuko from Muzan’s schemes, while also preparing for the final confrontation with him.
