The Netflix series My Happy Marriage is once again back with its second episode and Miyo and Lord Kudo trying to understand each other. The episode About My Husband-To-Be showcases Kudo and Miyo igniting marital bliss by slowly taking each step carefully. On the side, Miyo is scared that if she takes or does anything outrageous, she will be sent back to her father’s house, which is a disgrace to her and the Saimori family. Another reason for her step-mom to humiliate her.
My Happy Marriage Episode 2: Ghost of the past, igniting a prosperous future
The second episode of My Happy Marriage starts and the first episode was concluded. Miyo is smitten by the beauty of Kudo and Kudo speaks to her like a commander on the field to keep distance from him. He commands her to stay as he says and die if he says and Miyo without asking why and when says- ‘As you say.’ Miyo is still having second thoughts about Kudo and how rumors about him are so true but she has submitted to her fate to obediently follow what is said or told.
She is given a beautiful room, quite spacious. Miyo is engrossed in her thoughts and as she falls asleep she sees her past as a child with Kaya. She dreams of the day when her father and stepsister are in a dimly lighted room that is ignited with candles and Miyo’s father wants to know who can control spirits or sees one. As he opens the box Kaya is terrified by something which means that she can see spirits. So this makes Miyo’s father happy and talk of the town that Miyo is just a waste of time.
As Miyo wakes from the dream, she prepares breakfast for Kudo, and Miss Yuri, the caretaker of the house, is happy and surprised that Miyo took such pains. She helps Miyo with the meal and as Kudo is about to eat, he asks Miyo to taste it and she is surprised. Kudo shrugs her off saying that it is poison and that’s why she is not having it. Miyo is unhappy that she disobeyed his order as Kudo walks out of the room.
The scene in My Happy Marriage then shifts to the military gathering where recruits are prepared for some demons and dark entities haunting the town and for the first time Kudo uses his ability which is ice power to show what his commanders should be capable of. Later Miyo welcomes him at home and apologizes for any disobedience created by her and Kudo walks past her saying that she should not apologize, it’s his mistake.
At dinner, Kudo quietly has his cold meal and later asks Miyo to prepare breakfast for him the next morning. Miyo is surprised to see the generosity of Kudo to give and another chance and also heats the bathtub for her to have a relaxing bath. Miyo again dreams about her stepmother giving away all her mother’s belongings and treating her like a nobody and dismissing her nanny for supporting her.
The next morning Kudo eats the breakfast prepared by Miyo and appreciates it and Miyo is overwhelmed with tears. She is appreciated for the first time in so many years that she can’t resist and just teared up. Kudo is a little suspicious about why she behaves and lives like a servant whereas girls her age are in the full bloom of youth. He asks Yuri to investigate her household.
My Happy Marriage: Suspicion grows out to become sympathy
Throughout the episode of My Happy Marriage, Miyo is constantly trying to prove that she is the ideal fiancé; obeying orders and living up to expectations on the other hand, Kudo is slowly drawing towards Miyo. He is trying to figure out why and what made Miyo so much submissive even though she comes from a reputed family. A glance of her friend Koji who is about to be part of the Saimori family is about to go through any extent if Miyo is treated like a filth or is left to beg on the streets.
My Happy Marriage upcoming episode will show how both Kudo and Miyo trying to understand each other. Miyo’s father is threatened by someone that he sent off Miyo to the Tatsuishi family without his knowledge. Miyo has Usuba blood(matriarchal blood) that has something to do with her extraordinary powers hidden from her and us. 3.5 stars out of 5.
