Mask Girl is based on an online comic of the same name authored by author Mae Mi, which was published on Naver, a well-known South Korean web portal, from August 15, 2015 to June 9, 2018. This information will be of interest to viewers. The tales chronicle the exploits of Kim Mo-mi (played by Go Hyun-jung), a devoted office worker with childhood fantasies of becoming famous.
The entire series will be helmed by Kim Yong-hoon, who is best known for directing his feature film debut, Beasts Clawing at Straws. The primary production companies behind the title are House of Impression and Bon Factory. The South Korean production will debut on the streaming service on August 18, 2023. Ko Hyun-Jung portrays Kim Mo-Mi
Actress Ko Hyun-Jung portrays Kim Mo-Mi, also known as the “mask girl,” in the lead role. She was a runner-up for Miss Korea in 1989, but she is best recognized for her role in Sandglass (1995), one of the most popular dramas in Korean television history. She gave up acting in 1995 after getting married to chaebol Chung Yong-jin, but she did it again in 2003 following their divorce. After the popularity of her TV shows Queen Seondeok and Daemul, Go has now recovered her position as a top celebrity in Korea, becoming the best paid actress on television.
Ahn Jae-Hong portrays Joo Oh-Nam
Joo Oh-Nam, played by actor Ahn Jae-Hong, is Kim Mo-Mi’s coworker and later an infatuated fan who develops a massive crush on her to the point that he learns her reality and pursues her. Ahn Jae-Hong is well recognized for his performances in television series Reply 1988 and movies like The King of Jokgu (2013) and Fabricated City (2017). At the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards, his portrayal in the drama led to a nomination for Best New Actor. He joined the cast of the KBS2 show Fight My Way in 2017, and for that role, he was honoured with the Best New Actor honour at the 31st KBS Drama Awards. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor on TV at the 54th Baeksang Arts Awards for his performance in the drama series.
Yeom Hye-ran portrays Kim Kyung-Ja
As the story develops, Kim Kyung-Ja, played by actress Yeom Hye-ran, goes on the hunt for her son Joo Oh-Nam. Her major works include The Most Beautiful Goodbye (2017), Dear My Friends (2016), Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016), and I Can Speak (2017).
