My Happy Marriage opens up at Miyo Saimori, a nineteen-year-old girl is nothing but a servant in her own house. Her father doesn’t speak very heartily with her, her stepmom disposes of her and her younger step-sister Kaya is just happy to humiliate her and despises her. Koji Tatsuishi is the only friend in her town who is her good friend and is also in love with her.
He brings her sweets and candies to make her smile but she doesn’t smile or laugh at anything. She is also somehow contented that at least she has Koji to talk to. One day she learns that her father has called Koji in the house to talk to him, could be Miyo and Koji’s marriage but Koji is to be taking Kaya’s hand in marriage. Miyo is disheartened and now her only peace with Koji is also taken away from her.
She expected to marry Koji so that she can escape this limbo of disparity and unhappiness but looks like she is destined to be a servant and slave her entire life. She is asked to leave the house as she is given in marriage to a commander Kiyoka Kudo who lives far from her mother’s resting place. She doesn’t have much to pack and upon reaching the premises, greets the gentle man with a bow, and the minute she raises her head to see Kudo, she is awestruck by the man’s charm and handsomeness.
