Tom Holland has provided an update on the delays regarding Spider-Man 4. The actor who recently turned 27 on June 1st that his return as Spider-Man is likely and that their plans have been delayed in solidarity with the ongoing Hollywood writer’s strike.
At the premiere of his new miniseries ‘The Crowded Room’ which he stars in as Danny Sullivan. Tom who also executive produced the show, told ET about the whole ongoing dilemma regarding Spider-Man.
“I think as long as we can do justice to Peter Parker. As long as we can keep elevating and making the films better and making them mean more, then I’ll be there,” said Tom about his future role as the friendly neighborhood hero Spider-Man. “I’d be stupid to say that I wouldn’t be the luckiest kid alive if I got to do it again, there’s stuff going on, but we’ll have to just wait and see what happens.” via ET
Spider-Man 4 production postponed
The 2023 Writers Guild of America is an ongoing strike regarding the dispute between the labor union, which represents more than 11,500 writers, and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The strike began on 2nd May, 2023 over issues such as pay, streaming residuals, and the use of AI tools in Films and TV which were affecting the union. The strike led to many TV shows and Films coming to a standstill and temporarily discontinuing production. This means that even the production of upcoming Marvel movies, including Spider-man 4 has been delayed.
Amy Pascal who has been a producer for all the Spider-Man movies starring Tom Holland told that a 4th Spider-Man movie is still in the building stage but due to the ongoing strikes, it has been further postponed. “Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” she said. “We’re in the process, but the writer’s strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.” via Variety
