Spriggan Season 2: Will It Return?

Don't miss

Spriggan is yet another excellent anime that subscribers may watch, and many viewers may already be eager to learn as much as they can about a potential Spriggan season 2.

Regarding anime releases, Netflix has been a juggernaut, and the streaming service never ceases to astound.

Sprigaan‘ is a sci-fi action ONA series based on the same-named manga series by Hiroshi Takashige and illustrated by Ryoji Minagawa. Yu Ominae, a 17-year-old agent of the ARCAM Foundation, a group that gathers — or, if necessary, closes off or destroys — potent artifacts made by past civilizations, serves as the novel’s protagonist. Yu is a member of the illustrious Spriggans, the top unit of ARCAM’s military branch. Even though Yu is one of ARCAM’s top agents, he is still a young man who longs to interact with other students at his little visited school.

After its first season premiere, “Spriggan” mostly got favorable reviews. Although the anime garnered some criticism for having too many expository sections—a common issue with anime shows—it was praised for its animation and combat scenes. We have the answer to your question on whether “Spriggan” will have a second season.

The good news about every subsequent iteration is that there is always a chance that more episodes could be produced as long as a show hasn’t been declared officially canceled. The sequel season is currently unannounced, although no headlines claim it has been canceled.

Season 1 of “Spriggan” debuted on Netflix (Man vs Bee Season 2) on June 18, 2022. The creation of a second season has not been confirmed by the show’s creators or Netflix officials. But a potential season 2 is alluded to in the first season’s end-credits scene. One of the manga’s main antagonists, Sho Kanaya, debuts in the ONA and is dispatched to Yu’s school to murder him. This suggests that the creators fully intend to pursue the series’ second season.

As for the show’s popularity amongst Netflix subscribers, the first week has seen Spriggan make it into a handful of top ten lists. Notably, Spriggan did make it to number one in Japan for a total of four days, which means it outperformed the likes of The Umbrella Academy, Strangers Things, and the various popular anime shows.

The original manga series by Takashige and Minagawa apparently spans 11 volumes and tells more tales than what is shown in the first season of “Spriggan.” Therefore, there is sufficient content to create upcoming seasons. Additionally, “Spriggan” is a very popular manga, thus the show already has a fan base. There is a chance that “Spriggan” will be renewed if it can match the success of ONAs like “Blood of Zeus” and “Record of Ragnarok,” both of which have received renewals for additional seasons. If that occurs within the next several months, the audience can anticipate “Spriggan” season 2 to release sometime in the second quarter of 2024.

Even if they do have some underlying stories, the episodes of “Spriggan’s” first season are primarily stand-alone. Yu is forced to confront his history in the ‘The Forgotten Kingdom’ season 1 finale as he battles Bowman, his former mentor, who passes away in his arms. He also understands that he shouldn’t have complete faith in ARCAM. A soldier kills an entire squad of mercenaries in the post-credits scene before being dispatched to Yu’s school as a student to kill him. The soldier’s eyes begin to flash crimson, suggesting that he may possess abilities akin to those of the Spriggans.

The identity of this soldier will probably be made known in the next season 2. His name is Sho Kanaya. We could discover more about Yu’s earlier. Yu and Sho both participated in the COSMOS project in the manga. Children who have been brainwashed and recruited worldwide by CIA agents and American soldiers make up COSMOS. In the closing credits scene, Colonel Ralph Cooley may be identified as Sho’s commanding officer. The Sasahara twins might discover Yu’s other existence in the upcoming season.
