SK8 the Infinity is a Japanese original anime series produced by Bones that aired from January to April 2021. The anime follows the adventures of Reki, a high school skater who introduces Langa, a transfer student from Canada, to the underground world of “S”, a dangerous downhill skateboarding race.
The anime received positive reviews from fans and critics for its animation, characters, and soundtrack. On July 30, 2021, it was announced that SK8 the Infinity will have a second season and an original video animation (OVA).
SK8 the Infinity Season 2 Release Date
On the official Twitter account of the original anime SK8 the Infinity it was announced that it will continue with a second season and will also receive a new OVA episode. You can see a first teaser below.
There is no official release date for SK8 the Infinity Season 2 yet, The second season as well as the OVA are again directed by Hiroko Utsumi (Banana Fish) at Studio BONES. Ichiro Ohkouchi (Princess Principal) is writing the screenplay again, while Michinori Chiba is contributing the character design and Ryo Takahashi (Citrus) is providing the music.
The twelve-episode first season of SK8 the Infinity aired on Japanese television between January and April 2021. It is not yet known when the second season will start and the OVA will be released. Of course, we will keep you up to date as usual.

SK8 the Infinity Season 2 Plot
The plot of SK8 the Infinity Season 2 is still unknown, but it will likely continue from where the first season left off. The first season ended with Reki and Langa defeating Adam, the leader of “S” and a ruthless skater who targeted them. The second season may explore more of the characters’ backgrounds, relationships, and motivations, as well as introduce new rivals and challenges for them. The second season may also delve deeper into the mysteries of “S” and its origins.

The main characters and cast of SK8 the Infinity are:
- Reki Kyan (voiced by Tasuku Hatanaka in Japanese and Matt Shipman in English): A cheerful and energetic high school sophomore who loves skateboarding and is addicted to “S” races. He works at a local skate shop part-time as a mechanic and creates his own custom decks. He quickly becomes best friends with Langa and introduces him to skateboarding and “S”.
- Langa Hasegawa (voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi in Japanese and Howard Wang in English): A half-Japanese student who transferred to Okinawa from Canada with his mother and ended up transferring into Reki’s class. Growing up as a snowboarder, Langa quickly learns to transfer his skills into skateboarding when he jumps into his first “S” run. Always in a daze, he shows a stubborn side at times.
- Miya Chinen (voiced by Takuma Nagatsuka in Japanese and Ry McKeand in English): A cheeky first year junior high school student who has the ability to perform difficult tricks without difficulty and is looking to represent Japan in the Olympics. Loves cats and video games.
- Hiromi Higa (voiced by Kenta Miyake in Japanese and Chris Guerrero in English): An “S” racer who wears a cape and heavy metal style makeup, and is a self-proclaimed “dynamite flower”. He works as a florist during the day and has a crush on Cherry Blossom.
- Kaoru Sakurayashiki (voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa in Japanese and Daman Mills in English): An “S” racer who goes by the alias Cherry Blossom. He is a famous manga artist who uses advanced technology to enhance his skating performance. He is childhood friends with Joe and has a rivalry with Shadow.
- Kojiro Nanjo (voiced by Yasunori Matsumoto in Japanese and Jonah Scott in English): An “S” racer who goes by the alias Joe. He is a chef who owns his own restaurant and specializes in spicy food. He is childhood friends with Cherry Blossom and has a rivalry with Adam.
- Ainosuke Shindo (voiced by Takehito Koyasu in Japanese and David Wald in English): An “S” racer who goes by the alias Adam. He is a politician who is obsessed with finding his “Eve”, a skater who can match his skills and passion. He is cruel and manipulative, and targets Reki and Langa for his own amusement.
- Tadashi Kikuchi (voiced by Kensho Ono in Japanese and Brandon Johnson in English): Adam’s secretary and assistant, who also participates in “S” as a masked skater. He is loyal to Adam and often covers up his scandals.
