Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimer’ is an upcoming biographical film about the American theoretical physicist, J. Robert Oppenheimer who helped The United States of America develop their first nuclear weapons. This is the first collaboration between Christopher Nolan and Universal Pictures.

Oppenheimer is said to be Nolan’s finest work yet. So it’s only fair if the cast was the best of the best and Universal Pictures have gotten themselves a star-studded lineup of actors and actresses for the movie. Many of the actors in the film have previously worked with Christopher Nolan. Here’s a look at all the prominent faces in the film.

Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer is the 6th movie in which Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy will work together, with the latter playing the lead role for the first time. Cillian Murphy plays the role of the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer.

Other Nolan movies which feature Cillian Murphy include, ‘The Dark Knight Trilogy’, ‘Inception’, and ‘Dunkirk’.

Emily Blunt as Katherine ‘Kitty’ Oppenheimer

Emily Blunt plays Kitty, the wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer. She perfectly encapsulates the role of a wife struggling to cope with her husband’s work environment. She understands the gravity of his work and supports him regardless.

Emily Blunt has won multiple awards throughout her career. Some of her works include ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, ‘Looper’, ‘Sicario’ and ‘Mary Poppins Returns’.

Matt Damon as Leslie Groves

Leslie Groves is the head of the Army Corps of Engineers who is overseeing the project. Matt Damon flawlessly pulls off the role of the ‘Army-Man’. Matt Damon has previously worked with Christopher Nolan on ‘Interstellar’.

Matt Damon has won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the movie ‘Good Will Hunting’. He has also starred in ‘Invictus’, ‘The Martian’ and ‘Manchester by the Sea’.

Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss

Mr. Iron Man plays the role of Lewis Strauss in the movie. Lewis Strauss was the Former United States Secretary of Commerce. This is the first movie in which Robert Downey Jr. and Christoper Nolan have worked together.

Robert Downey Jr. is very popular for his role as Tony Stark aka Iron Man. He has also starred in the movies ‘Dolittle’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’, and ‘Chaplin’.

Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock

The 27-year-old actress plays the role of Jean Tatlock, a psychiatrist, and physician, And J Robbert Oppenheimer’s romantic interest. It will be interesting to see her share screen space with Cillian Murphy.

She has starred in projects such as ‘Don’t Worry Darling’, ‘Black Widow’, and ‘Midsommar’.

Benny Safdie as Edward Teller

Benny Safdie plays the role of Edward Teller, one of the theoretical physicists who worked alongside J. Robert Oppenheimer on the project. Edward Teller was also known as ‘The Father of the Hydrogen Bomb’.

Benny Safdie has been featured in movies such as ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ and ‘Licorice Pizza’. He is much known for directing movies with his brother, Josh Safdie.
