Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Storyline
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular anime series of recent years, based on the manga by Gege Akutami. The first season, which aired from October 2020 to March 2021, followed the adventures of Yuji Itadori, a high school student who becomes the host of a powerful curse spirit named Ryomen Sukuna.
Along with his fellow jujutsu sorcerers, Yuji battles against various curses that threaten humanity, while also trying to collect all of Sukuna’s fingers to exorcise him.
The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen has been confirmed to premiere in July 2023, and will cover two major arcs from the manga: Gojo’s Past and Shibuya Incident. Here is what we know so far about the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2.
Gojo’s Past Arc
The first part of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will take us back to 2006, when Satoru Gojo, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer in the world, was still a second-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High.
Along with his best friend and rival Suguru Geto, Gojo is assigned to escort a Star Plasma Vessel named Riko Amanai to Tengen, the barrier master who protects Japan from curses.
However, their mission is complicated by a group of curse users who want to kill Riko and disrupt Tengen’s immortality ritual.
This arc will explore Gojo’s backstory, personality, and relationship with Geto and other characters from his generation. We will also learn more about the history and lore of the jujutsu world, such as Tengen, the Six Eyes, and the Inverted Spear of Heaven.
Shibuya Incident Arc
The second part of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will resume the present-day storyline, following the events of the Death Painting Arc. Yuji and his friends are recommended for promotion to Grade 1 sorcerers by Gojo, who also invites them to join him in a new mission in Shibuya on Halloween night.
However, they soon find themselves in a deadly trap set by Geto and Mahito, who have formed an alliance with other curse users and curses. Their goal is to seal away Gojo using a special prison realm, and unleash a massive curse attack on Shibuya.
This arc will be the longest and most intense in Jujutsu Kaisen, featuring epic battles, shocking revelations, tragic deaths, and major character developments.
Yuji will face his greatest challenge yet as he confronts Sukuna’s true power and his own fate. We will also see the return of Yuta Okkotsu, the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, who has a special connection to Yuji.
