In an interview with GQ magazine, Cillian talks about how it was playing the role of the physicist. Cillian Murphy is known for the complexity of his roles, from a gangster in the streets of London to a physicist, Cillian has done it all.

“Inevitably, if you play a character for a long time, and I was researching him for six months, then shooting it for however long that was. And you’re playing them 18 hours a day every day. By osmosis, you’re exchanging atoms, You become consumed or immersed [by it], that’s just the way it is.” says Cillian

A particular sex scene with Jean Tatlock (Florence Pugh) created a lot of buzz. In the scene, Oppenheimer is quoting a text from the Hindu Scripture, ‘Bhagavad Dita’, which is “I have become Death, Destroyer of Worlds” while having sex with Jean Tatlock.

“I think they were vital in this in this movie. I think the relationship that he has with Jean Tatlock is one of the most crucial emotional parts of the film. I think if they’re key to the story then they’re worthwhile. Listen, no one likes doing them, they’re the most awkward possible part of our job. But sometimes you have to get on with it.” is what Murphy had to say about the scene.
