Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout is one of the many anime that falls under the comedy genre with themes revolving around an adult cast and romantic subtext. If you’re familiar with Don’t Toy with Me Miss Nagatoro and Teasing Master Takagi-san, the series Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout is somewhat similar to them – a girl teasing the male protagonist.
The series narrates the story of two former club members, the eccentric Hana Uzaki, and taciturn Shinichi Sakurai, as their intertwined paths led them to be reunited once again at the same college. However, much to Uzaki’s surprise, her upperclassman Sakurai who was once an energetic senior has turned into someone that just loves to laze around. Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout follows Uzaki as she tries to change Sakurai for the better by intervening in his daily life, in an effort to make Sakurai return to his old self.
Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai began life as a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Take. It started its serialization through Niconico Seiga’s Dra Dra Sharp website in December 2017 and its chapters were collected in nine tankobon volumes by Fujimi Shobo as of September 2022. Not only in Japanese but the manga series Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai has also been published in English as Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout by Seven Seas Entertainment since September 17, 2019.
Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout Season 3 Renewal Status
The anime adaptation of the manga series Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout was first announced on February 3, 2020, by Kadokawa. The adaptation was animated by ENGI, the studio that has released a few anime such as The Detective Is Already Dead and Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs. Although the name ENGI is quite questionable in the anime community, their adaptation of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout has successfully won the hearts of many fans.
The first season of the anime series Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout premiered on July 10, 2020, and ran for twelve episodes before concluding on September 25 of the same year. Shortly after the first season’s final episode aired, it was announced that a second season had been greenlit for production. Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout Season 2 aired for thirteen episodes from October 1, 2022, to December 24, 2022.
After the second season has ended, many fans are still craving to see the continuation of the story. So, what is the renewal status of the anime? Has the production team said anything regarding Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout Season 3?
Unfortunately, as of now, neither the studio nor anyone from the production team has said anything about a sequel. With that being said, the whereabouts of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout Season 3 still remains a mystery to all of us.

So, the question that arises in the mind of many fans is whether Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout Season 3 will ever be released or not. The short answer is: Yes, it is feasible that a sequel will be announced sometime in the future, but fans might have to wait a bit longer for the return of their beloved series. Why?
The main reason mostly lies in the lack of source material. The first and second seasons combined have already covered around sixty-nine out of ninety-two chapters (as of January 2023), which is not enough for the studio to make a sequel. With that being said, fans should probably wait, possibly until the number of chapters is plentiful, to receive further updates about Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout Season 3.
However, with the number of remaining chapters that we have right now, it is not totally impossible that the studio will release a new movie as a sequel to the second season. But then again, it is all up to the production team at the end of the day.
