The Umbrella Academy Season 4: Release date
Currently, Netflix has not officially commissioned Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy. However, according to rumors, season 4 is already in development. Usually, Netflix waits a few weeks after launch before making a final judgment on whether to renew a series. In the case of The Umbrella Academy, ordering another season is only a matter of time – after all, it’s one of the streamer’s most successful original series. As soon as there is new information about the renewal for season 4, we will add it here.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4: Will be the last?
In an interview with TVLine, series creator Steve Blackman already let slip that his original plan for the Netflix series could soon be complete: “I’ve pitched 4 seasons and I know the beginning, middle and end”
So with season 4, The Umbrella could already reach a planned end point. Furthermore, Blackman also states that Netflix could possibly call for more seasons.
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to tell from the comic book when and how The Umbrella Academy could be finished, because the Netflix series has long since overtaken it and has already moved a long way away from it in terms of content.
A New Universe: Everything will be different in The Umbrella Academy season 4
In Season 3, the Hargreeves were confronted in an altered timeline not only with the new superhero squad of Sparrows, but once again with the world’s impending end. An all-consuming time paradox destroyed the entire universe. At the last second, most of the main characters took refuge in the Oblivion Hotel, located in another dimension. And there, the entire universe was finally rebooted.
At the end of season 3, the Hargreeves siblings find themselves in a reset reality where so many things are different. And with that, The Umbrella Academy is already setting the stage for an exciting 4th season with completely new problems. Because in this universe, the super siblings suddenly have no superpowers at all.
It’s an exciting starting point for Season 4, which offers plenty of material for drama within the dysfunctional no-longer-superhero family. After long yearning for a “normal” life, the question is now whether Viktor Hargreeves, Luther, Diego, Five, Klaus and Allison are even capable of living a normal life.
And we are sure that this will lead to plenty of tension. Because some family members are certainly not willing to risk everything again to regain their superpowers. So Luther finally has his human body back, Diego and Lila are about to become parents and Allison is reunited with her daughter and husband after all this time.
In season 4, we will hopefully also finally learn more about the true background of Sir Reginald Hargreeves. He manipulated the Umbrella Academy from the beginning to be able to implement his plan to reset the universe. His goal was to bring his long-dead wife Abigail back to life. Now he has accomplished all of that. What Reginald and Abigail are up to now? Season 4 will tell us.
