The Fully Monty is coming back to theaters, after 25 years, with a blast. The series is a sequel to the 1997 British comedy-drama movie of the same name. The Fully Monty follows the life of a group of unemployed steelworkers in the industrial area of Sheffield and their bizarre plans to earn money. The movie was directed by Peter Cattaneo.
The Full Monty combines humor and drama but also tackles issues like unemployment, masculinity, and identity. The movie challenges the societal pressure faced by men to perform gender roles that are traditional to men. It offers the characters of the show to step out of their comfort zone and go full monty (completely nude).
The movie topped the box office for thirteen weeks in the United Kingdom and became the highest-grossing British film of all time. The Full Monty went on to get 4 Academy Awards nominations (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Score, and Best Original Screenplay). In 1997, the film won the BAFTA Award for best film. The movie earned a total of $ 194 million worldwide.
