The second episode of ‘Secret Invasion’ titled ‘Promises’ had a lot going on compared to the pilot. The series is based on the Marvel Comic which involves Skrulls, a group of shapeshifting aliens, and their plan to invade Earth.

Samuel L. Jackson is back in his iconic role as Nick Fury, and he stars alongside Ben Mendelsohn, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and others. 

Secret Invasion: Episode 1 Recap

In Episode 1 of Secret Invasion, Nick Fury is back on planet Earth after Agent Maria Hill summons him. He along with fellow Skrull, Talos tries to stop the Skrull attacks. The trio are in Moscow, where the Skrulls are hiding out and trying to foil their plans. While trying to stop one of their attacks, Agent Maria Hill is shot down by the rebel Skrull leader Gravik.

Secret Invasion Episode 2: Gravki becomes the Skrull General

Episode 2 titled ‘Promises’ follows the aftermath of the attack in Moscow by the Skrulls which leaves 2000 dead. Among 2000 dead, Agent Maria Hill is one of them. Nick Fury feels guilt and remorse as he remembers the promise he had made to Skrulls years ago, that if they kept his planet safe, he and Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) would help them find a new planet to call home.

Nick Fury also learns that over 1 million Skrulls took refuge on Earth while he was gone. The Skrulls are everywhere and many have even disguised themselves as World Leaders. Such a council of the Skrull leaders decides to name ‘Gravik’ as the Skrull General, and they decide to wage war on Humans and invade Earth. 

Sonya Falsworth learns from one of the captured Skrulls that Gravik plans on building a machine to make the Skrulls even stronger. Nick Fury is on the run with Talon as the World Leaders (Some Skrull Imposters) blame him for the attacks in Moscow.

Nick Fury’s Skrull Wife

Colonel James Rhodes convinces Nick Fury to hand himself in, however, Nick is enraged and delivers the iconic line “I’m Nick Fury, even when I am out, I am in” and leaves. Toward the end of the episode, Fury is then seen driving off toward the countryside and entering a beautiful villa. 

Jazz music is playing in the background and Nick Fury is greeted by a Skrull, who reminds Nick to wear his wedding ring and then the two share a passionate kiss.
