After the success of The Witcher season 1 which premiered on the ott platform Netflix. Now, after the prequel series which is titled The Witcher: Blood Origin where the lead characters will be returned such as Yennefer, Geralt, and Ciri. The series is based on the book of the same name which was written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The season features Freya Allan, Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Eamon Farran, Joey Batey, and others in supporting roles. Henry Cavill will be seen as Geralt of Rivia in season 3 however, in season 4 Liam Hemsworth will be portraying Geralt.

What was the reason for Yennefer losing her womb?

 In the series, Yennefer is a quarter-elf sorceress in the series and before that, she was a humpback, but her posture was improved by Tissaia de Vries who trained Yennefer.

According to The wrap, when actress Anya Chalorta who is playing Yennefer in the series, she told that when Yennefer was sold to Tissaia by her stepfather. Tissaia is a witch who trained Yennefer as the sorceress.

In the interview, Anya told that to be a witcher there is a sacrifice and also the cost of her transformation from a hunchback to a beautiful woman as Yennefer wanted. Tissaia cut her womb from her body and put it in the fire before he straightened Yennefer’s back and fixed her jaw. Here is the reason for losing Yennefer’s womb and losing the ability to become a mother.

Why is Yennefer battling with infertility in The Witcher?

In The Witcher, Yennefer loses her womb for the transformation in her body which is mentioned above. Actress Anya Chalorta has called a brutal price for her transformation. 

In the book also she lost her womb and also infertility which makes also the reason for her mental health which is challenging for Yennefer. As per Girl Geek Authority, in real life, those women who can conceive their child will understand Yennefer’s character who is dealing with infertility and mental health issues due to her past life.

In the series, Yennefer is the love interest of Geralt who is also sterile and understands her. 

Here are some spoilers: According to the Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Yennefer will lose her magical powers due to saving Ciri in the battle which is another loss for Yennefer in season 3. 

So, the question is will Yennefer regain her power back? Will Yennefer’s wish be fulfilled to become a mother?  Will Yennefer survive in the battle? These answers are in the book if you read but in the series, it may be different because you have to wait for June 29, 2023, when the first volume of The Witcher will be released on Netflix.
