‘Oppenheimer‘ could be one of Christopher Nolan’s best works as of yet. The movie is about the American theoretical physicist, J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy) who helped The United States of America develop their first nuclear weapons.
Along with Cillian Murphy, the movie boasts a cast of A-listers from Hollywood. Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Kenneth Branagh, Florence Pugh, and Rami Malek are just some of the few names. Oppenheimer is the sixth movie that sees Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy working together, and the latter’s first in a lead role.
What makes Oppenheimer so special is that the movie was shot on the IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format film and IMAX black and white format. Each Frame contains 18K resolution which is by far more than any digital camera. The quality of the movie is unprecedented for sure and grab your tickets for July 21, 2023, to be part of a cinematic experience.
‘Everything is Practical, Nothing is CGI in Oppenheimer’
As part of a promotion of Oppenheimer, Universal Pictures released a Feature video where the cast and crew talk more about what went behind the scenes for Christopher Nolan’s movie. Christopher Nolan is renowned for his storytelling, combined with stunning cinematography.
Nolan is known for going in-depth and studying more about the movie’s genre before implementing them into his movie. He also is one of the few directors out there who uses as less CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) as possible. From crashing an actual plane in ‘Tenet’ (2020) to flipping an 18-wheeler truck in ‘The Dark Knight’ (2008), Christopher Nolan has done it all.
“I have been interested in Oppenheimer’s story for a long time, at some point, I learned this key piece of information that would lead up to the Trinity test. They were dealing with a very small possibility that when they push that button, it could set fire to the atmosphere of the Earth, and destroy the planet” says Christopher Nolan, “And yet, they pushed that button”
Fans are excited to see how Nolan who makes very minimal use of CGI in his movies, replicates the Trinity Test on the Screen. He revealed that it would be nightmarish and terrifying in a way that computer graphics could never duplicate.
“Everything that Chris Nolan has does, is a prelude to this [movie]” says Robert Downey Jr. “This is, I think, a definitive moment in the history of modern film-making. Do yourself a favor, and go see this, on a bigger screen as you can.”
It would be foolish to not listen to Robert Downey Jr.’s words and miss the experience of seeing Oppenheimer on the big IMAX screens. Grab your tickets for July 21, 2023, to become a part of Modern Cinematic history.
