Marvel has pushed back their release schedule by quite a bit. Several movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 5 and Phase 6 have gotten new release dates. Things are looking very different for Marvel Studios as they look forward to readjusting their schedules.
Movie delays are not something that is new to Hollywood, especially during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, the ongoing Writers Guild of America Strike has contributed to it as many ongoing projects’ scripts aren’t finished. This may also benefit Marvel Studios, as they will get more production time for each project.
Marvel projects that have been delayed
Deadpool 3
Originally supposed to release on November 8th, 2024, the movie is now releasing on a much earlier date than expected. Much to the excitement of fans, the movie has received a new release date, which is May 3rd, 2024.
Deadpool 3 is the sequel to the popular Deadpool franchise. The film will likely merge with the other Universes from the MCU. Ryan Reynolds is confirmed to reprise his iconic role in the movie. Deadpool 3 is written by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzy Molyneux-Loeglin.
Captain America: Brave New World
The movie will now release 3 months after the original release date of May 3, 2024, and will be coming to theaters on July 26, 2024. This will be Captain America’s fourth movie in the franchise and the first solo movie for Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie) in the MCU franchise.
Harrison Ford, Shira Haas, and Tim Blake Nelson will also star in the movie.
Thunderbolts
Thunderbolt is a movie that has been affected by the Writer’s strike and the movie is now pushed back to December 20, 2024, from July 26, 2024. Thunderbolts are an antihero team mostly consisting of reformed supervillains.
No specific details have been released regarding the movie, as the shooting was halted just a few days after production had begun.
Blade
The movie which was announced all the way back in 2019, has been further delayed and will be released on February 12th, 2025 instead of 2024. This movie will be Mahershala Ali’s first solo MCU movie. Production is yet to begin for the movie and the delays haven’t been helping with it either.
Fantastic Four
One of the most eagerly anticipated movies from the MCU has now gotten the fans waiting even longer as the movie has received a new release date of May 2, 2025, instead of February 12, 2025.
The first movie starred Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, and Ioan Gruffudd. Matt Shakman will be directing the upcoming movie.
