Marvel fans will soon be able to go on all-new adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy fan favorite as he causes trouble in “I Am Groot,” which is on its way to theaters.
Vin Diesel returns to his role as the title character in the new Disney Plus series, which consists of a collection of short films. The episodes were co-written and directed by Kirsten Lepore and Ryan Little of What If…?
Phase Four of the MCU, which also includes She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Ms. Marvel, and WandaVision on Disney Plus (Kiss Sixth Sense Season 2), includes the new series. I Am Groot has five more short films in the works.
Marvel fans have been astounded by Baby Groot’s sweetness since since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s 2017 release. Whether he was a fully grown tree or just a sapling, the tree of few words has been a cute and funny addition to the guardians. Disney (Moon Knight Season 2) has decided to make a miniseries that focuses on some of Groot’s humorous escapades from seedling to Guardian because we missed out on him a lot growing up and because Marvel fans like him. Here is all the information you require for I Am Groot.
When Is I Am Groot’s Release Date?
I Am Groot will debut on August 10, 2022, and will only be accessible on Disney+. You may watch every step of Groot’s journey at once, unlike other shows that have recently made their streaming debuts. All five episodes will be published at once. And because the entire project only has 20 minutes’ worth of content, you can actually take it all in at once.
Watch the I Am Groot Trailer
In normal circumstances, I would consider a one-minute trailer for any Marvel project to be unimpressive, but in this case, we may have gotten a more thorough look than we have for any other series to date. The lone publicly available teaser offers a brief glance into what appears to be three to four of the short films. The fact that only 5% of the finished project was included by the makers in the teaser allows viewers to have a good idea of what to expect from Groot.
The trailer can be seen here:
Who Are the Cast and Crew of I Am Groot?
I am Groot’s cast is adorably little, which should come as no surprise to anyone. Once more, Vin Diesel voices Groot, and Bradley Cooper provides the voice of Rocket. Bradley Cooper only makes an appearance in one of the five episodes, so don’t expect to see Rocket and Groot interacting a much. There’s a good chance that in four of the episodes, the line “I am Groot” will be the only conversation you hear. That has to be a record.
Regarding the directors, we have James Gunn joining Kevin Feige for one episode as he continues to expertly steer the Marvel Cinematic Universe for all five episodes. Kristen Lepore, a recent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be in charge of directing the remaining episodes of the miniseries.
What Do We Know About the Plot of I Am Groot?
According to the teaser and reports from the early screenings of the episodes at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 and El Capitan Theaters, the series mostly centers on Baby Groot in a Gulliver’s Travelers-style manner. For these brief, entertaining episodes, Groot will engage with a variety of extraterrestrial races most of the time.
When Does I Am Groot Take Place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Timeline?
I Am Groot “takes place actually between the end of Guardians 2 and before the tag scene in Guardians 2,” said Marvel Studios Head of Streaming Brad Winderbaum. Groot is therefore at that kind of post-toddler developmental stage for this brief window.
This timeframe is quite constrained, so there may be some room for more shorts when, say, Groot was a teenager. And that’s fortunate because it seems like this series won’t be a one-off.
