Mural by “Fire Force” Mangaka
In keeping with Kōdansha’s motto “Inspire Impossible Stories,” Liverpool FC selected five moving scenes from the club’s history, which were subsequently illustrated by “Fire Force” creator Atsushi Ōkubo. Unveiled at the Premier League’s Merseyside derby against Everton on April 24, 2022, the mural now counts toward a new photo spot.
“Fire Force,” known in Japan as “En’en no Shōbōtai,” was published in “Shūkan Shōnen Jump” magazine between September 2015 and February 2022. Kōdansha published all the chapters in 34 volumes. The manga enjoyed great popularity and received an anime adaptation in 2019 directed by Yūki Yase (Season I) and Tatsuma Minamikawa (Season II) at Studio David Production (“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure”).
Atsushi Ōkubo achieved his breakthrough as a manga artist in 2003 with his action hit “Soul Eater.” In 2008, Studio Bones created the anime adaptation of the same name for the title. Following the main series, a side story, “Soul Eater Not!” was also released. The official Fire Force Twitter account has confirmed that Fire Force Season 3 TV anime is in production.
