Erin Moriarty who plays Starlight in the American superhero television series, ’The Boys’ has revealed that season 4 of ‘The Boys’ will see various characters go through a character development phase. In an interview with Collider, she said
“Every season, we go a little bit deeper with each character, Everyone has a background story as to why they’re the person that they’ve become, something that Moriarty teases will play out by commenting, “The characters… that you thought would be villains, you start to learn a little bit more about them that perhaps makes you feel, not that they’re good guys, but that there are always gonna be details that you can never anticipate, that prevent you from putting that character in a box.”
This is evident, especially in the character of Homelander, (played by Anthony Starr) the show’s anti-hero who goes through multiple revelations in the show which affect him personally and emotionally. Starlight herself goes through many ups and downs when she comes to know more about her boyfriend Hughie.
The Boys
The show was created by Eric Kripke and premiered in 2019. The Boys is based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The show offers a dark perspective on the world of superheroes with a satirical twist on the genre.
‘The Boys’ is about a group of boys, or men to be precise, led by Billy Butcher (played by Karl Urban). The Boys are Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), whose girlfriend is killed by a super-hero, Billy’friends and partners, Frenchie (Tomer Capone) the weapons specialist, and MM alias Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso). Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) is also one of ‘The Boys’
The Plot
The Boys despise the superhero group, The Seven, as each one of them has had personal problems with them in the past. The Seven are led by the Homelander, who, well let’s just say is Homelander. The Boys discover that there is more to the superheroes than what they show in media and the series follows their journey to unveiling their secrets.
Three seasons of ‘The Boys’ have been released in order of ‘The Boys (Seasons 1,2 and 3 respectively). Season 4 of ‘The Boys’ is said to release late in 2023 or 2024.
Gen V
Gen V is an upcoming spin-off of ‘The Boys’ and is about the young ‘supes’ or superheroes and the challenges they face while being University students at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, run by Vought International. There haven’t been major details about the plot of the new series but it is likely to be connected to the original series.
