With “Agatha: Coven of Chaos,” Marvel fans can expect a spin-off to “WandaVision” very soon. With actress Aubrey Plaza, Kathryn Hahn’s old “Parks and Recreation” colleague is now joining the Disney+ series.
- Kathryn Hahn is getting her own spin-off on Disney+ as “WandaVision” villain Agatha Harkness.
- Filming has now begun on “Agatha: Coven of Chaos,” and the series is expected to start streaming in late 2023.
- In addition to Hahn as the main character Agatha Harkness, Joe Locke and Aubrey Plaza will also be seen in as yet unknown roles.
Kathryn Hahn has won the hearts of “WandaVision” viewers as the quirky neighbor and mischievous, earworm-twirling witch. So it’s little surprise that she’s now getting her own spin-off in Marvel Phase 4: “Agatha: Coven of Chaos”! To date, information about the Disney+ series is still being kept under wraps, but two new cast members of the Marvel series have now been announced: Netflix star Joe Locke and actress Aubrey Plaza.
With “Agatha: Coven of Chaos,” once known as “Agatha: House of Harkness,” we can expect a spin-off to “WandaVision” streaming on Disney+ at the end of 2023. The lead role will again be played by Kathryn Hahn, who also played the witch in “WandaVision.” When the announcement of the spin-off came, some fans were surprised.
After all, Agatha doesn’t necessarily seem to play the most important role in the overarching Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but on the way to the finale of the great Multiverse saga, which consists of Phases 4, 5 and 6, “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” might become even more important than you think!
The finale of the Multiverse saga will be “Avengers: Secret Wars” in late 2025. And in that movie, the Fantastic Four will play an important role. The “Fantastic Four” movie has already been announced for November 2024, and Agatha has an important connection to the Fantastic Four in the Marvel comics.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos Release Date on Disney+
Like all new series in the Marvel universe, “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” will be streamed exclusively on Disney+. However, a start date has not yet been set. However, since several Marvel series are waiting for us this year in the Disney+ novelty program with “Moon Knight,” “She-Hulk” and “Ms. Marvel,” “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” will not start until 2023.
Agatha – Coven of Chaos: Cast
So far, quite little has been revealed about the actors who will star in the Agatha spin-off. What is certain, of course, is that Kathryn Hahn will reprise her celebrated role of Agatha Harkness.
Likewise, Emma Caulfield Ford is also likely to reprise her role as Dottie Jones/Sarah Proctor. Whether other well-known figures from “WandaVision” will appear is still unclear.
However, it has now been announced that actor Joe Locke will join the series as a new cast member. He recently enjoyed great success with the Netflix hit series “Heartstopper“. According to the US online magazine Deadline, Locke will even play a leading role alongside Hahn. Although no further details are yet known, his character is described as a “gay teenager with a dark sense of humor.”
Also announced outright was that actress Aubrey Plaza will be part of the new Marvel series. Plaza is actually an old acting colleague of Kathryn Hahn, because together they have already been in front of the camera for the comedy series “Parks and Recreation”. And Plaza is no stranger to the Marvel universe either, as she starred in the FX series “Legion” for three seasons. It is not yet known which character she will play in “Agatha – Coven of Chaos.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos: Storyline
Nothing is known yet about the plot of the Disney+ series about Agatha Harkness. Some fans suspect that we will learn more about Agatha’s story before the events of “WandaVision”. Otherwise, she might regain her memory and subsequently become a powerful witch again, so the plot serves as a sequel to “WandaVision.” It remains to be seen.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos Production
The series is created and written by “WandaVision” creator Jac Schaeffer. Who else is on board has not yet been revealed. Shooting is still scheduled to begin at the end of 2022.
