At the Directors on Directing panel we were hosting at San Diego Comic-Con, the first trailer for Chad Stahelski’s “John Wick 4” came.
Before Lionsgate debuted the first trailer for John Wick: Chapter 4 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, I met with director Chad Stahelski just before he walked the stage at Caesars Palace. I questioned Stahelski about the plot, the action sequences, and the title of the impending sequel because the studio and everyone involved have been quite protective about disclosing anything about it.

According to Stahelski, the plot of John Wick 4 as follows:
“Chapter 4 has a bit of a climax, which is fantastic, and I believe it’s a terrific continuation of all three previous movies. Numerous new individuals are introduced, all of whom have important things to say about John Wick both in the past and, obviously, in the present. I believe it to be fraternity and hope. I believe that’s the most entertaining aspect of the film since that’s how life would actually be with John experiencing a mild existential crisis.”
“There’s a good finish to an emotional thread that we’ve already had,” he continued.
Stahelski explained in regards to the title that after watching the film, they “find that small emotional vibe or whatever we believe thread, and pick a term that best affirms what we’re trying to express. That is the title, too.
But I believe the question that every fan of John Wick is most interested in learning is how Keanu Reeves and the rest of the cast are lifting the standard for the action sequences.
Both Winston, played by Ian McShane, and Charon, played by Lance Reddick, will return in John Wick 4. The cast has expanded to include Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgrd, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, and Clancy Brown. The character Caine, who is billed as an old friend of Wick and who has the same adversaries as the titular assassin, will also be played by martial arts legend Donnie Yen.
Tim Miller, Andrew Stanton, and Chad Stahelski joined Steve Weintraub for a discussion of their films and upcoming projects during Collider’s Directors on Directing panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Stahelski stunned audience members at the panel with a sneak peek of the future action movie, even though John Wick 4 is still a year away. Fans saw the first poster, which has Keanu Reeves front and center with nunchucks, in addition to the new footage.
Since Reeves’ debut as the titular John Wick in 2014, when Russian gangsters broke into his home and killed his puppy Daisy, the John Wick franchise has been flourishing. John Wick is a former hitman who is forced back into the criminal underworld. It is entirely fair to return to the murderous business when your cherished dog dies.
The release date for John Wick 4 was originally set for March 24, 2023, but delays prevented that from happening. In this upcoming performance as Wick, Reeves will rejoin with his former Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne. Along with Ian McShane and Lance Reddick, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgrd, Rina Sawayama, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, and Clancy Brown, who recently shared additional information about his character with Collider, will also make their cinematic debuts.
The John Wick 4 teaser, which amounted to around a minute of all-new material, showed Wick training and taking down a variety of villains, including a memorable scene in which he used the nunchucks depicted on the poster that was also unveiled tonight. Fishburne’s Bowery King extinguished a candle at the end of the trailer, which appears to be related to the first picture that was released earlier this week. It goes without saying that this trailer will delight enthusiasts.
Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, will be scripted by Emerald Fennell of Promising Young Woman and will center on a teenage assassin who wants vengeance for the murder of her family. It was made public earlier this month. Puppies. Families. This is the terrible literature that pushes people into the underworld.
The fourth John Wick movie hits theaters on March 24, 2023. Below, you can view the video from the panel that shows Baba Yaga making a comeback:
