Stan Lee has always iconic cameos in the movies. The Creator of Marvel and MCU has often seen hilariously interacting with the heroes and easing out the tension from the scene. In the upcoming documentary of Stan Lee on Disney+, the makers have also put certain instances of his cameos in Spiderman, Iron Man, Avengers, etc. A lot is about to be unveiled in his documentary and journey to make superheroes legendary.
Here are some of his most iconic cameos in MCU movies-
Hugh Hefner Lookalike – Iron Man
In MCU’s Iron Man, Tony Stark comes for a benefit fundraiser even where he mistakes Stan Lee for Hugh Heffner, the owner of Playboy Magazine. Tony Stark says: “Looking great, Heff!! As he is surrounded by beautiful women. However, Lee does look like the Heffner…That was Lee’s first MCU cameo.
Mr. Smiles – Guardians of the Galaxy
In Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket (the Raccoon) is seen scanning a planet- Xandar where he sees Stan Lee having a good time with a woman. Rocket says that this is the man responsible for all wrong happening in the galaxy (pun intended). An unidentified text appears upon Stan Lee that reads-“Excelsior!” in the Skrull language.
A Bartender – Ant-Man
Seeing Luis’ amazing storytelling with Stan Lee’s cameo as a bartender in Ant-Man was very entertaining.
A General – Captain America: The First Avenger
In Captain America: The First Avenger, Stan Lee appears as a general in the audience waiting to honor Captain America (Chris Evans). As we all know that Stan Lee never created Captain America in MCU as a separate character but often credited him as the first Avenger in comics in the 1940s.
A Mental Ward Patient – Thor: The Dark World
In Thor: The Dark World, Stan Lee is seen portraying himself. He is seen as a patient in a mental ward who only wants his shoe back from Erik Selvig, who used it for his demonstration. This is one of the iconic appearances of Stan Lee in MCU movies.
Beauty Pageant Judge- Iron Man 3
In Iron Man 3, Stan Lee is seen portraying a beauty pageant judge in the movie and giving full marks to a contestant. This is the first time that he didn’t portray himself as Stan Lee- creator of Marvel.
Neighbor Gary – Spider-Man: Homecoming
Many of us would vouch for our favorite actor playing the best Spider-Man in MCU. It is very tricky to answer this question but Stan Lee, who created the character, said that Tom Holland is his favorite Spider-Man and is the spitting image of how he would have Peter Parker to be. He appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming as a cranky neighbor Gary, calling Peter a punk. This is his only cameo in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy as he passed away in 2018, else he would have been in Far from Home too.
An Interviewee – The Avengers
Stan Lee was seen as a news report after the Battle of New York in The Avengers and expressed his disbelief in superheroes. Just after that he was seen playing chess in a park and puns over his disbelief that he hates superheroes. Just imagine the creator rejecting his creation. So much in Plato’s philosophy!! It appeared in one of the deleted scenes post-credits.
Casino Patron – Black Panther
Stan Lee was seen in a cameo in his movie Black Panter, playing a high-rolling gambler at a speedy casino. Once T’Challa leaves the table to care for more important business, Lee takes his unclaimed tokens for his game. Stan Lee was seen “The Thirsty Gambler”, and posted the credits but could not live to see the movie. The character he created, was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. This would have made him proud.
Subway Passenger – Captain Marvel
Lee makes a vividly impressive cameo in Captain Marvel, reading his lines, while on a subway ride. It just puts a smile on Carol’s face, but after she dies it gets even more special. Captain Marvel is the first MCU film to be released post Lee’s death, and the maker made some opening credits paying tribute to the legend comprising his image in Marvel Studios logo. It was a fitting tribute to a legendary icon and on the opening night the audience gave a huge ovation and probably a few tears as well.
