Revenant Episode 10 Review: Hae-sang’s Grandmother as the Sinister Puppeteer Behind the Tragedies

Don't miss

In Revenant, San-young’s mother pays her a visit and confronts her. In response, San-young warns her mother to stay away, as she believes it to be dangerous. Shockingly, this statement causes her mother to collapse. Later on, San-young discovers that the words she used were the same ones her late father uttered back in 2002, on the night when her mother took San-young away from him.

Meanwhile, Hae-sang visits his grandmother’s place and demands to know the real name of the evil spirit. However, the lady remains indifferent and doesn’t provide the information he seeks.

During their conversation in Revenant, San-young’s mother reveals that she noticed something peculiar about her late father’s eyes, and San-young shares information about her father’s eye condition. She keeps her own vision problem a secret from her mother, even though it’s the same issue her father experienced.

In another revelation, San-young’s mother mentions seeing Kim Chi-won visiting Gang-mu with a bag that contained a camera. This camera has now come into San-young’s possession.

Later, while at her mother’s cafe, San-young experiences an extremely blurry vision. In this state, she hears the voice of the evil spirit, which promises to solve her vision problem if she can locate the other cursed objects.

San-young confides in Hae-sang about what happens when she touches the cursed objects. They both realize that the visions they experience are from the perspective of someone who witnessed the death of Mokdan.

Unraveling the Evil Spirit’s Dark Plans in Revenant

The duo ventures into an abandoned building in search of the last cursed object. After a thorough search, they come across the glass bottle. As soon as San-young touches it, she freezes into a creepy position and starts speaking on behalf of the malevolent spirit. Hae-sang takes the bottle away, and San-young mentions something about water before impulsively jumping off the building.

In a hurry, she rushes to a convenience store and drinks an extensive amount of water, sharing with Hae-sang that she once endured seven days without food or water, while her grandparents questioned why she was still alive. Realizing the urgency, Hae-sang understands that he must find the final object quickly to uncover the truth behind the story.

Meanwhile, Hongsae discovers information about Hae-sang’s father, finding that he too had a burnt wrist mark on his hand but died from starvation, not suicide. Additionally, Hongsae learns about a young boy named Woo-jin who died at the same hospital due to an apparent accident, but the truth points to murder. Hae-sang confronts Kim Chi-won, revealing that Woo-jin was killed by his own grandmother because he had stumbled upon the family’s dark secret. Furthermore, it appears that Woo-jin’s mother was also murdered after discovering the truth.

Back to San-young, she wakes up to find cuts on her hand. Hongsae pays her a visit and notices her peculiar eyes. Initially pretending to be sick, San-young eventually confides in Hongsae about her eye disease and the evil spirit’s influence, which is necessary to keep her vision intact.

Adding to the distress in Revenant, Hongsae delivers more bad news: the evil spirit’s next target is San-young’s mother. Tragically, the previous evening, while possessed, San-young had unknowingly signed insurance papers that would grant her a substantial sum of money after her mother’s death.

A Race Against Time to Discover the Evil Spirit’s Name in Revenant

Hongsae and Hae-sang are resolute in their determination in Revenant to uncover the truth about the evil spirit. Despite the warnings from the malevolent entity inside San-young, they urge her to share all the details she knows. San-young reveals that Munchun had information about Mokdan’s family, suggesting that the evil spirit might be Mokdan’s sister, but her name remains unknown in Previous Episodes of Revenant.

Hae-sang plans to search for the girl’s name on February 28th, a sacred day when ghosts supposedly cannot harm. However, unbeknownst to them, the evil spirit within San-young learns of their plan.

Eventually, the shocking truth is revealed – Hae-sang’s grandmother is the mastermind behind all the chaos. She deliberately misled her abusive husband with a false name for the spirit, leading to his demise. Only she knows the real name, as speaking it out loud would put an end to her immortal life. The girl’s name is Hyangi, and Hae-sang’s grandmother holds this crucial information within herself as well. It is astonishing to realize that the series is concluding soon, as the intensity and excitement have only just begun. The story in Revenant is now coming together, and everything seems to be falling into place.

However, the greatest challenge lies ahead – finding the evil spirit’s name, which proves to be a daunting task. The malevolent entity is determined to survive and will stop at nothing, even killing those who attempt to uncover its identity. Hae-sang’s grandmother is extremely selfish and unwilling to divulge the name, placing the trio in great peril.

Hae-sang risks becoming the target of the evil spirit in Revenant if he delves too deeply into its origin, but the situation is still shrouded in mystery. Hopefully, by the end of the show, the trio will manage to survive the dangerous pursuit of the truth.
