The anime’s second season adapts mainly the fifth and sixth volumes of the light novel series. The following season will probably cover the subsequent volumes. In Volume 7, a priest Rimuri dispatches to Lubelius gets assassinated, creating a tense situation, but Volume 8 shifts to a more relaxed mood, as it depicts a festival in Tempest. The highlight of the festival is a combat tournament featuring the legendary hero Lightspeed Masayuki, though this occurs only in Volume 9. It is uncertain if Season 3 of the anime will include this part of the story.

In these arcs, Rimuru will face new challenges and enemies, as well as old ones, as he tries to protect his kingdom and allies from various threats. He will also have to deal with the consequences of his actions in the previous season, which have earned him the attention and respect of other powerful beings.

Some of the major events that we can expect to see in the third season are:

  • The arrival of Yuuki Kagurazaka, the leader of the Freedom Association and a mysterious figure from Rimuru’s past life.
  • The conflict between Tempest and the Western Saints Church, led by Hinata Sakaguchi, a powerful knight and Rimuru’s former colleague.
  • The invasion of Tempest by the Eastern Empire, a technologically advanced nation that seeks to conquer the world.
  • The invitation of Rimuru to attend the Walpurgis Banquet, a meeting of the demon lords where they decide the fate of the world.
  • The confrontation between Rimuru and Clayman, who has been manipulating events behind the scenes to achieve his own goals.
