Tatami Time Machine Blues is the sequel to Morimi’s earlier novel, The Tatami Galaxy, which was released in July 2020, approximately 16 years after the original story was published. The whole thing was inspired by Makoto Ueda’s play “Summer Time Machine Blues”.
Incidentally, the original novel “The Tatami Galaxy” also inspired an anime adaptation in 2010. This comes from the well-known director Masaaki Yuasa and includes eleven episodes.
