Will the anime series Taboo Tattoo ever return? Will we ever get to see Taboo Tattoo Season 2?
Taboo Tattoo is one of the many action-heavy shows that brings the theme of martial arts and super powers. The story revolves around Seigi, a martial arts trained middle schooler that often feels driven to protect the weaker people around him. One day, his life turned upside down after he saved a homeless man from the hands of some punks. As a reward, the man gave Seigi a secret weapon in the form of a tattoo.
The series Taboo Tattoo began life as a Japanese action seinen manga series written and illustrated by Shinjirou. It was serialized in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine in November 27, 2009. The chapters of the manga were succesfully complied into thirteen tankobon volumes before coming to an end on June 27, 2017.
Not only in Japanese, but the manga series Taboo Tattoo has also been published in English by Yen Press since January 26, 2016, and also in French by Bamboo Edition’s Doki-Doki imprint. With that being said, fans from outside Japan can also enjoy the manga series.
Taboo Tattoo Season 2 Renewal Status
A few years later after the release of the manga series Taboo Tattoo, nn anime adaptation was announced to be produced by J.C.Staff, the studio that has released many popular shows such as Toradora, Food Wars, the second season of One Punch Man, and last but not least, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou.
Initially, it was stated that the anime adaptation of Taboo Tattoo will be broadcasted on 2015, but instead, the production team decided to premiere it on July 5, 2016. The anime ran for a good twelve episodes before concluding on September 20 of the same year. Up to this very day, many fans are still craving to see the continuation of the anime series. So, what is the renewal status of the anime series Taboo Tattoo? Has the studio said anything regarding Taboo Tattoo Season 2?
Unfortunately, as of now, neither the studio nor the anyone from the production team has said anything regarding a new season or such. With that being said, the whereabouts of Taboo Tattoo Season 2 still remains a mystery up to this point.
Will Taboo Tattoo Season 2 ever be released?
Due to several reasons that will be explained below, Taboo Tattoo Season 2 would be highly unlikely. The first and most important reason is that the manga series has already ended, meaning that making a new season out of it would be pretty much out of the question.
However, there are some cases in which an anime received a sequel even after the source has ended, but the anime has to meet certain criteria. It has to be popular or at least became a center of attraction, and have good DVD/BD sales to be profitable enough for another run. Sadly, in Taboo Tattoo’s case, it was not that popular to begin with, which directly affects the number of sales.
Not to mention, the anime series Taboo Tattoo has received a lot of hate from the audience. The show received a glaring number of unpraised reviews online, and it has only managed to gather a score of 5.75 in MyAnimeList, which is considered below average by default. Also, many users in the forum that came to dislike the series have said that the story and characters were a complete mess despite having a godlike action and animation.
With that being said, it is best to believe that Taboo Tattoo Season 2 would never be released. However, don’t take it as a gospel either, because it seems that there has been many unexpected returns in the anime realm. Let us just hope that it will be the case for Taboo Tattoo. But, then again, one should not have high hopes for the return of Taboo Tattoo.
