Surface is a story of self-discovery and a philosophical investigation of free will that is full of surprises, twists, and turns, including an unexpected love triangle.
If we discuss thrillers on Apple TV+, we must discuss Tehran, Defend Jacob, and Servant. Fans of these games are in luck because Apple has a deal for a new series of games in this category called Surface.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw, an actress who appeared in The Morning Show’s first season, will star in this new series, which won’t premiere until at least 2022.
Now, Apple TV+ has revealed Surface, an eight-episode psychological thriller, which is anticipated to be their next major series. Here is all the information you require to get ready before the start of the series.
What is Surface About?
The official summary for the show was released by Apple TV+ along with the series release date announcement, and it sounds like Surface might be “Severance’s” spiritual offspring.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“The Morning Show”), who also executive produces Surface, plays Sophie, a lady with severe memory loss who has suffered a traumatic brain injury thought to be the result of a failed suicide attempt. Surface is set in upscale San Francisco and stars Mbatha-Raw.
Sophie starts to wonder if the truth she is given is really the truth she has lived as she sets out on a mission to put the pieces of her life back together with the aid of her husband and friends. This sensual, sophisticated thriller poses the question: What if you woke up one day and didn’t know your own secrets? via turns and turns and an unexpected love triangle. The self-discovery tale Surface asks if our identities are predetermined or if they are something we choose for ourselves.
Surface Release Date
The first three episodes of Surface are scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ on July 29, 2022, with the next five episodes following each week on Friday.
With a burst of episodes, Apple TV+ has been able to draw viewers in and keep them interested for future weeks with its hybrid model of short-run binge and weekly release.
Surface Cast: Who Will Be In It?
In addition to Gugu Mbatha-Raw, the cast of Surface includes a dynamite cast of Oliver Jackson-Cohen (“The Haunting of Hill House”), Stephan James (“If Beale Street Could Talk”), Ari Graynor (“I’m Dying Up Here”), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (“Secrets & Lies”), François Arnaud (“I Killed My Mother”) and Millie Brady (“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”).
Surface Writer, Director, and More
Veronica West, who has worked on “Mercy,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “GCB,” “Hart of Dixie,” “State of Affairs,” and “Ugly Betty,” is the creator of Surface. Most recently, she created the “High Fidelity” television series with Zoe Kravitz. It was prematurely discontinued, and yes, I am still resentful about it.
Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and Apple Studios are working together to create Surface for Apple TV+. Executive producer duties are also performed by West, who also wrote and developed the original series. For Hello Sunshine, Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter are executive producing. Four of the show’s episodes, including the pilot, were directed by Sam Miller (“I May Destroy You”), who also acts as executive producer. Tucker Gates, Jennifer Morrison, and Kevin Sullivan are additional series directors.
The limited series “The Last Thing He Told Me,” which Jennifer Garner executive produces and stars in, is among the high-profile productions that have been produced by Apple TV+ and Hello Sunshine. The Emmy, SAG, and Critics Choice Award-winning sitcom “The Morning Show,” which will premiere its third season on the streamer later this year, is also a result of the agreement.
