Park Gyu-young, the 29-year-old South Korean actor is said to star in Netflix’s popular, Squid Game 2. Along with Park, a former member of the girl group IZ*ONE, Jo Yu-ri will also be a part of the show. Squid Game became the most popular show on Netflix with 1.65 billion viewing hours in the first four weeks of the show.
Squid Game 2 will also star former cast members, Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo. Squid Game is the story of 456 people who are facing difficult financial situations, brought together to play deadly children’s games in exchange for prize money of 45.6 billion Korean Won.
Who is Park Gyu-young?
Park Gyu-young initially started off her career in teaching before discovering her passion for acting during her university years. She made her acting debut in 2014 in the drama series, ‘The Noble You’.
She gained popularity for her breakthrough role as Nam Joo-ri in ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ (2020). The actress also starred in the drama series, ‘Doom at Your Service’ (2021) as Tak Dong-kyung, and her role resonated well with the audiences.
Park Gyu-young has also starred in other projects such as ‘Sweet Home’ (2020) and ‘Dali & Cocky Prince’ (2021).
Squid Game 2

Towards the end of the show, Gi-Hun who is the winner of the first Squid Game, is about to board a plane to Los Angeles to meet his daughter when he sees another man being recruited to play the Squid Game at the airport. He tries to call on the recruiter’s card to find out more about games but is told to get on the plane. He ignores them and proceeds to return to the airport.
Squid Game 2 is likely to pick off from this scene and follow Gi-Hun and his journey to discovering the creators behind the show. There is likely a chance of him taking part in another iteration of the games. Squid Game 2 is said to release in late 2024.
