The “Sandman” can once again take us into the world of dreams, because Netflix has finally confirmed a second season of the fantasy series. We will reveal when and how things will continue for Sandman season 2.
The Netflix fantasy series “Sandman” is based on the DC comics by Neil Gaiman. All information about the seasons and the episode guide can be found in here.
- “Sandman” on Netflix will get a 2nd season.
- Netflix and comics creator Neil Gaiman confirmed the renewal of the hit fantasy series on Twitter.
- In the new episodes we get to know more of Dream’s siblings and it’s back to hell.
“Sandman” started on Netflix in early August 2022 and topped the charts on the streaming service for several weeks. The reviews were almost always positive, so it seemed that an extension was right around the corner.
Strangely enough, it took a full three months for Netflix to finally declare the fans’ concerns unfounded and officially renewed “Sandman” for a second season. Neil Gaiman, on whose comics the fantasy series is based, previously explained that Netflix had to evaluate the viewer numbers in detail, since “Sandman” was not streamed by most viewers in one go, but over several days.
So far it is not known when Sandman Season 2 will be released, a release in 2024 is likely here. However, showrunner Allan Heinberg has already revealed that Sandman Season 2 will contain the comic story arcs “The Time of the Mist” and “Across the Sea to Heaven” will treat.
This resolves the cliffhanger at the end of Season 1, in which Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie) plans to get revenge on her brother Dream (Tom Sturridge). We’ll also meet more of Dream’s siblings and see fan-favorites like Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) again.
The Netflix series “Sandman” is about the king of stories, one of the seven endless ones, called Dream. The streaming service’s own production is based on the popular DC comics by Neil Gaiman (” Good Omens “, ” Anansi Boys “), who is involved in the series implementation as Executive Producer. Gaiman also developed the comic templates for ” Lucifer ” and ” Marvel’s Eternals “.
Sandman Season 2: Where to Watch
“Sandman” can be seen exclusively on the streaming service as a Netflix in-house production and will probably never be seen on free or pay TV, other streamers will also get nothing.
“Sandman” and “Lucifer”
The character Lucifer plays a prominent role in “Sandman” as in the comics that appeared from 1989 to 1996. Neil Gaiman developed his own idea from this and even gave the charming devil his own comic series with the same title.
DC and Fox have already adapted this comic and brought you a popular series with ” Lucifer “. Therefore, fans had hoped that Tom Ellis could return to his signature role in “Sandman”. But nothing will come of it.
