On the official Twitter account of the anime adaptation of “The Apothecary Diaries”, it was announced that it will air on Japanese television starting in October 2023. You can find a new trailer below.
The Apothecary Diaries Anime Simulcast at Crunchyroll
The anime adaptation of “The Apothecary Diaries” is being directed by Norihiro Naganuma (“Onipan!”), who is also writing the script, at Studio OLM and TOHO animation STUDIO. Akinori Fudesaka serves as assistant director, while Yukiko Nakatani contributes character design. Music is composed by Satoru Kousaki (“Vivy”), Kevin Penkin (“Shield Hero”) and Alisa Fukami.
The two leads feature Aoi Yuuki (Mami from “Rent-A-Girlfriend”) as Maomao and Takeo Ootsuka (Kakeru in “Run with the Wind”) as Jinshi. The streaming service Crunchyroll shows the series in this country in the original Japanese sound with English subtitles in the simulcast.
The original light novel of the same name by Natsu Hyuuga has been published in Japan since August 2014 with illustrations by Touko Shino. A manga adaptation of Nekokurage, which launched in May 2017.

Storyline:
Maomao is an unassuming servant at the imperial court. At least, that’s how she tries to be seen. Ever since she was sold into the emperor’s service, the young apothecary has done everything she can to work off her debt without causing a stir, so that she can return home soon.
