Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ new look makes fans crazy

Don't miss

At San Diego Comic-Con 2023, a fresh look at the three main cast members of Disney+‘s Percy Jackson was spotted.

The Percy Jackson picture was posted on Twitter and is part of a noticeboard that teases a new Disney+ series. The logos for Disney+, Percy Jackson, Doctor Who, and Goosebumps are also included, along with a cutout of the recognizable TARDIS. Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), Annabeth Chase (Leah Jeffries), and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) also have new looks. Disney+ is anticipated to launch Doctor Who before the end of 2023 and Percy Jackson before the start of 2024. Goosebumps’s release date has not yet been announced.

The Lightning Thief, the first book in author Rick Riordan’s Camp Half-Blood Chronicles series, will be adapted for Season 1 of the series. Season 1 will follow 12-year-old demigod Percy as he sets out on a cross-country journey with his pals Annabeth Chase and Grover to find the missing lightning bolt of Zeus, who was portrayed by the late Lance Reddick, and bring peace to Mount Olympus, much like the plot of the book. After the 2010 release of the same-titled movie by 20th Century Fox, this will be The Lightning Thief’s second adaptation.

What Percy Jackson’s creators have to say about the release of the movie?

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) was a minor box office success despite unfavourable reviews from reviewers and fans, which prompted 20th Century to approve a sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013). The movie series was finally put an end to by Sea of Monsters, which brought in even less money at the box office than The Lightning Thief. Recently, Riordan stated that he thought that two movies would be the only Percy Jackson adaptations. Riordan didn’t start thinking about approaching the Mouse House about a Percy Jackson television adaptation until Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019.

“I kind of just assumed for a long time that that was it for me and the TV and film business, that we gave it a chance, and it didn’t work out. That’s pretty much it once the rights are sold,” added Riordan. “What changed is Disney’s purchase of Fox [which produced the two films]. Percy Jackson has always been published by Disney. We both commented, “You know, there might be an opportunity here,” when I spoke to my wife, Becky. Disney accepted Riordan’s proposal for the possible series in December 2019, and the new adaptation was unveiled in May 2020.
