Ncuti Gatwa faces criticism from British media

In a recent interview with Rolling Stones he talked about the backlash of the British media. He is taking the charge for the series and is presumably the first person of color to take the lead. He said- “I’m the first Black man to play this character. The British press can be very mean… I just have to focus on the job and stay true to what the Doctor is: a mad scientist alien who has adventures and cares about everyone.”

Ncuti Gatwa acknowledged that Russell T Davies “has been amazing, too. He calms me down.” The actor also unabashedly reveals, “I can get very anxious, but therapy helps, and they’ve made sure that I have time put aside to have my sessions.”- according to screenrant.

The reason for his criticism is that he is a refugee and a person of color. there have been many instances of the colored person not being accepted by society and also Ncuti Gatwa being an actor faces it too.

He has been supported by the cast of the series and this is reason for his strength to take up the backlash. He has hinted to be returning in season 15. He is not afraid to push boundaries and show his fans what he is capable of.

The plot of the show depicts, a doctor, a mysterious 2,000-year-old time-traveling figure, and his companion’s journey across time and space in a ship known as TARDIS.
