As now been officially announced, the horror/mystery anime “Mononoke” will receive an anime film next year, 15 years after its first broadcast. In keeping with the announcement, details, a visual and trailer were revealed.

Accordingly, the anime film is to be created in the studio Twin Engine, where Kenji Nakamura is allowed to slip back into the role of the director. Also, with the voice actor Takahiro Sakurai, the well-known voice of the protagonist could be won for the project. Fans of the original can actively support the production through a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin on June 24, 2022. In the next 15 days, several visuals will be released, which will come from different illustrators. The start is due to Yaeko Ninagawa, who has drawn the manga adaptation of the original anime “Momonoke” in the past.
As mentioned earlier, “Mononoke” is an original anime that originally aired in Japan in 2007 and concluded with 12 episodes. Toei Animation was responsible for the production, where the aforementioned Kenji Nakamura directed. The screenplay was written by Michiko Yokote and Ikuko Takahashi.
In 2007 and 2008, the manga adaptation of the same name was launched, which was serialized in Square Enix’s “Young Gangan” magazine. In total, the manga has 2 editions.
