‘KamiKatsu Season 2’ is the highly anticipated sequel to ‘KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World’. The anime is based on the manga written by Aoi Akashiro and illustrated by Sonsho Hangetsuban. Here’s a look at the release date, plot, and everything you need to know about the anime.
KamiKatsu was initially serialized in Hero’s Inc.’s Seinen manga magazine. As of May 2023, the series has been collected into seven tankobon volumes. A spin-off manga by Shinya Murata and illustrated by Tokisada Hayami, titled ‘Kaminaki Sekai no Onee-chan Katsuo’ has also been serialized.
The anime is based on a similar genre of animes like Full-Time Magister, The Faraway Paladin, Tokyo Revengers, and Tomodachi Game.
KamiKatsu Season 2: Release Date
KamiKatsu Season 1 aired from April 6, 2023, to July 6, 2023, with 12 episodes. There has been no confirmation of a KamiKatsu Season 2 and a release date is yet to confirm.
There is no official release date for KamiKatsu Season 2 but we could expect the anime to release in late 2024, or by 2025. KamiKatsu Season 1 was produced by Studio Palette and it is unclear if the studio will also be producing Season 2.
KamiKatsu Season 2: Plot
No official synopsis for KamiKatsu Season 2 is out yet. Production is yet to begin for the show. With seven tankobon volumes from the manga, it is unclear from which volume Season 2 will adapt.
KamiKatsu Season 1: Recap
Yukito Urabe believes that Mitama, the omnipotent God will come to save him, so he decides to take part in a ritual to become the new leader of his father’s cult. He drowns in the ritual and wishes to be reborn in a world without gods or religion.
Awakening in an unfamiliar realm devoid of spirituality, he encounters Aruaru, a rebellious girl who introduces him to her village. His idealized view of this world shatters when he witnesses a public mass suicide and learns about the government’s power to order citizen deaths.
After witnessing Aruaru’s sister’s forced execution, Yukito’s desperation leads him to pray for Mitama’s intervention. Astonishingly, a young girl named Mitama responds, annihilating those who harmed Yukito’s friends. This girl claims to be Mitama herself, shattering Yukito’s perception of his reality.
