A first teaser recently introduced novel digital figure boxes that could be available soon.
Digital Anime Figures
The development and production of these digital figure boxes seems to be in good hands, as Akihabara-based tech company Gatebox is responsible for it, promoting their new product with a number of advantages over a physical version.
Since the box essentially shows 3D models of a character, poses and movements can be freely chosen and displayed. The digital figure box is similar in appearance to a standard figure window box and can be placed in a display case or on a shelf and put on display as usual – the only difference being that it has a display instead of a viewing window.
Either a PC program or a smartphone app is required for all settings. The development is still limited to Gatebox’s own characters and a release date has yet to be announced, but you can already take a look at the first teaser below.
What do you think about it? Would you put something like this on your shelf if the technology was also applied to renowned anime characters?
