‘I’m a Virgo’ on Prime: Top 5 coming of age series

Don't miss

I’m a Virgo is all about that teenage lifestyle, even if it’s pleasant to recall adolescence in all its rosy-hued innocence, we all realize that the so-called “wonder years” of our youth weren’t actually all that great. Puberty was uncomfortable, socialization was difficult, and rude awakenings were inevitable—a punch in the face everywhere you turned.

The best coming-of-age tales perfectly capture that peculiar mixture of wonder and angst. And for that, we can turn to movies, which are in and of themselves intriguing representations of youth. However, there is something special about a TV show that devotes its entire run of episodes to examining this particular period of our life. Regardless before I’m a Virgo hit Prime take a look at similar series.

The characters begin to seem like friends; their pains are understandable, and their development is a source of delight. To that end, we’ve rounded together the best shows below. One of the best Coming of age series, I’m A Virgo, is soon going to entertain you. So let’s have a look at the similar coming of age series that is worth watching.

Top 5 coming of age series to watch

Teenage Bounty Hunters

Teenage Bounty Hunters is a welcome and reviving change from the glut of overly stylised teen programming that is currently available everywhere (but especially on Netflix). The on-screen connection between sisters Blair and Sterling, respectively portrayed by Anjelica Bette Fellini and Maddie Phillips, strikes the ideal note between prickly and charming. There is conflict everywhere, but also love, according to a good movie to watch

Even without their exchanges, the show is highly entertaining, but their growing-up antics and hilarious timing, particularly when it comes to their hesitant mentor Bowser (Kadeem Hardison), make it a must-see. You’ll adore this program if you liked Booksmart but wished it had more action.

How to sell drugs online(fast)

This is The Social Network, and Breaking Bad combined. The plot of this drama, which is based on a genuine incident that occurred in Leipzig, Germany, in 2015, centres around Moritz, a high school student who launched the largest online drug market in Europe. His ex-girlfriend had recently returned from the States with fresh drug experiences, so he initially does this to impress her.

It’s fascinating to watch a nerd become a drug lord. But there is a crucial complexity to that transition because it is based on a true story. Moritz’s sinister side is constantly present, and he is rarely shown as a hero. A program with a lot of exciting and intriguing plots results from this.

Undeclared

It’s likely that if you mention “Judd Apatow” and “coming-of-age show” in the same sentence, people will assume you’re referring to Freaks and Geeks, the widely regarded television series about a group of friends who try and fail to fit in at high school. Despite being a financial failure, it solidified Apatow as a titan of tragicomic comedy and gave Seth Rogen and James Franco (among many others) their big breaks as the actors to watch out for in a slapstick comedy. But there is another show that fits this description: the underrated but outstanding Undeclared, which also centres on a bunch of young people—including Rogen!—who are doing their best to make sense of things.

YellowJackets

When a girl’s soccer team gets lost in the forest, things go from worrying to blatantly amusing and occasionally unbearably odd very quickly. You will be left feeling both wildly thrilled and profoundly troubled as you witness these girls traverse mankind in all its extremes, from the primitive desire to live to the existential yearning to bond. It is a classic narrative of survival infused with new mystery and drama.

Although Yellowjackets has been compared to well-known tales like Lord of the Flies and Lost, its distinct perspective on the female experience makes it stand out as a classic in the making.
