Comedian Hasan Minhaj is said to be the successor to Trevor Noah as the host of Comedy Central’s ‘Daily Show’. No contract has been signed as of yet but sources close to the show have confirmed that Hasan Minhaj will be the new host.
The Daily Show is an American late-night talk and satirical news television program which airs on Comedy Central. The show which focuses on recent news stories with a comedic and satire twist, was first hosted by Craig Kilborn in 1996.
In September 2022, Trevor Noah announced that he would step down as the host. Since then, a new permanent host has not been chosen. The Daily Show is the longest-running program on Comedy Central and has 24 Primetime Emmy Awards to its name. The show was recently delayed because of the ongoing strikes.
Who is Hasan Minhaj?
The American Comedian of Indian Descent is well known for his Netflix series ‘Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj’. The show won an Emmy Award, a Peabody Award, and 2 Webby Awards. The comedian, who is of Indian descent, is well known for his comedy on Indian culture and the American political landscape.
Hasan initially started his career as a standup comic before joining ‘The Daily Show’ as a correspondent for a few years. In a recent interview with Variety, he spoke about his plans to return to the show.
“I’m definitely open to the conversation. It’s also a family conversation now. It’s a very different conversation than when I first got hired at the show when I was 29 My life is in a very different place. And so that’s a bigger life/family convo. It changes a lot of things,” he told Variety.
“It’s an all-encompassing, all-consuming thing. And other people have to live with the consequences of what I say. And I just want to make sure everybody, if that were to ever come to fruition, ‘Hey, are we all on board with this?’

Fans were excited after rumors of him being the new host started doing rounds online. Hasan started his career as a standup comic, so comedy comes naturally to him, unlike the recent hosts of ‘The Daily Show’.

Hasan’s Netflix series, ‘Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj’ was one of the most popular talk shows hosted on Netflix. The series ran for 40 episodes across 6 seasons and was one of the most-watched shows in its genre.

In 2022, Hasan released his second Netflix special, ‘Hasan Minhaj: The King’s Jester’ (2022). He also made appearances in season 2 of Apple TV+’s ‘The Morning Show’.
