The tropical crime thriller “Troppo” is back for a second season, filmed in the sunny state of Queensland, Australia. Thomas Jane (“Boogie Nights”) and Nicole Chamoun (“Safe Harbour,” “On the Ropes”) return as the private eyes Ted Conkaffey and Amanda Pharrell, who solve mysteries in the steamy jungle. Jane, who also directed two episodes of Season 2, is known for his work on “The Expanse” and “Dark Country.” Leonine Studios is in charge of selling the show to the world.

In this season, Ted (Jane) and Amanda (Chamoun) are on the case of a strange murder and a drug ring with a twist, while Amanda faces an old foe and a new romance, and Ted’s past catches up with him and his family in Crimson Lake – with fatal results.

“Troppo” is based on the bestselling book “Redemption Point” by Candice Fox. The show was created by Yolanda Ramke (“Cargo,” “The Haunting of Bly Manor”), produced by Lisa Duff (“Troppo,” “The Appleton Ladies Potato Race”), series produced by Karl Zwicky (“Troppo,” “Last King of the Cross”) and executive produced by Greg Quail and Lisa Duff for Perpetual Entertainment; Mikael Borglund and David Ogilvy for Beyond Entertainment; Stuart Ford and Lourdes Diaz and co-executive producer Matt Bankston for AGC Studios; Thomas Jane and Courtney Lauren Penn for Renegade Entertainment and Yolanda Ramke.

Troppo Season 2: Release Date

The first season of Troppo premiered on ABC TV in February 2022, and then on Amazon Freevee on May 20. It consisted of eight episodes filmed in Queensland from October to December 2021. Assuming that Season 2 will follow a similar pattern. Filming is ongoing in 2023. Troppo Season 2 could premiere on ABC TV in mid or late 2024, and then on Amazon Freevee a few months later.

With the recent SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, many other factors could also contribute to why the show has not been updated.

Season 1 of the show was based on the novel, ‘Crimson Lake’ by Candice Fox. There have been speculations that if there were to be a Season 2, it would likely be adapted from the author’s second book in the series, ‘Redemption Point’.

No official synopsis for Troppo Season 2 has been released, but based on the previous Season’s plot, we can expect a similar season that will keep us on the edge of our seats.

Ted Conkaffey (Thomas Jane) is an ex-cop being falsely accused of a crime, along with private investigator, Amanda Pharell (Nicole Chamoun) the duo manages to solve the mystery of Yoon Sun (Sun Park).

Season 1 ended with a lot of questions remaining unanswered. Did Ted and Amanda survive the shootout? What happened between Twist and Bryce? Hopefully, Season 2 of Troppo will solve all doubts.
