Toy Story which happens to be one of the most popular franchises of Disney & Pixar is all set for a 5th release of the movie. One of the most anticipated sequels to Toy Story will be returning to theaters again and Woody and Buzz are definitely making a comeback.
The franchise was created by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Set in a world where toys come to life when humans aren’t around, the main characters are Sheriff Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Tim Allen). In the first movie, the duo get off to a rocky start but through various adventures learn the importance of friendship and loyalty.
Toy Story (1995) made history as it was the first feature-length film that was completely created with Computer Generated Imagery (CGI). The films perfectly combined humor for both children as well as adults. The movie was also well renowned for its emotional storytelling.
Toy Story 5: Woody and Buzz Reunion
Pete Doctor, CFO (Creative Chief Officer) of Pixar has confirmed in an interview with Variety that the duo are back together. When asked about upcoming Pixar movies he said
“We have our share of sequels in the works. We’re doing a sequel to ‘Inside Out’, so you get to go back inside the mind of Joy and Sadness. We have another ‘Toy Story’, so Woody and Buzz are back. And we have a few other projects, but it’s always a balance.
When asked about other movies from Pixar, and potential sequels, Doctor confirms that there are talks over which movies and that nothing has been finalized as of yet.
“Our general approach is unchanged. We try to find fun subjects and tell them in a relatable and entertaining way. The next thing we have coming up is our first long-form streaming series, ‘Win or Lose’.” said Doctor
“We have ‘Inside Out’ coming out next summer, and then ‘Elio’. That’s about a kid who feels like he doesn’t quite fit in.”
No release date or trailer has been released for the movie as of yet but speculations arise that the movie may release by late 2025 or early 2026.
Toy Story Recap
The series starts with Woody and Buzz and focuses on the bond between Andy’s toys. In Toy Story 2, the focus was more on Woody and also introduced new characters like Jessie. Toy Story 3 takes a sad turn as Andy is all grown up and leaves for college and the toys find a new home with Bonnie.
Toy Story 4 sees Woody reunite with Bo Peep and embark on a road trip and his desire to be free. Toy Story 5 is likely to see a continuation of the previous storyline and see Buzz Lightyear making a return.
