The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey Season 2: Will It Return?

Don't miss

A six-part drama series titled The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey is based on the same-titled book from 2010. Will there be The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey season 2? Let’s find out!

In the lead role, Samuel L. Jackson played a 93-year-old man who was suffering from dementia and was trying to survive by himself in his untidy apartment. Dr. Rubin treats Ptolemy’s memory loss and restores part of his clarity using a miracle medicine. With increased vigor and all his faculties still functioning, Ptolemy begins to look for the person who killed his great nephew and organizes his home in preparation for his impending judgment day.

The middle part falters a little, but the opening and closing episodes make up for it beautifully. Unfortunately, there are some absurd and fantasy components that don’t fully fit with the accurate depiction of dementia and all the serious topics covered. The story has numerous instances of racism and masculinity, but the plot nonetheless advances. However, it has its highlights, most notably a beautiful performance from Samuel L. Jackson, a Hollywood great who adds some weight to the film. His strange but charming relationship with Robyn is endearing. Once again, Apple TV+ delivers.

There will not be a second season of The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey since it is a limited series. The series was based on a single novel authored by Walter Mosley, the show’s originator. It seems improbable that they would have overlooked anything crucial from the novel or that a sequel would be necessary.

The show doesn’t completely wrap up every single story line, but by the time the final credits roll, it is all but over.

It is quite improbable that Apple TV+ intended to continue this narrative. The miniseries is probably going to continue as is as a one-off. As always, if there are any developments involving The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, we’ll let you know.
