Survival of the Thickest is finally out and as viewers, we must say that the series has a lot of body positivity and self-love for plus-size people. The series goes through a beautiful journey of this 38-year-old woman, Mavis who takes control of her life and starts taking her dreams and herself first. She helps not only herself but all those plus-size women and gender-fluid people to embrace what they are.

The series Survival of the Thickest, Mavis Beaumont is happy in her world and has an amazing job as a secondary stylist for a photoshoot. She has an amazing boyfriend Jacque who is a fashion photographer and loves her like anything. She has a beautiful house and one day in that house, she finds Jacque with one of the models. She acts like a hungry hyena and pounces at her and her cheater boyfriend. She leaves the house and is taken as a tenant by a weird girl named Jade who covers herself in olive oil.

Her friends Khalil and Marley are Mavis’s best buddies and help her get through this breakup syndrome. Khalil helps her to start taking her career and life back on track and become what she always wanted a designer. After much emphasis, Mavis gets her first designer project for a 90s model and she can’t resist the fact that she has gained weight and become a lost name in the industry. After giving her the task, Mavis ends up running to Jacque and he begs her to come back.

She ends up hooking up with someone old acquaintances and a new guy enters her life. She finally gets a great start in her life and then she gets some new contracts from a famous designer.

Mavis finds comfort in Luca

Mavis tries to help a drag queen on her day and gives her the dress that he asked for. As she performs on the stage, the dress breaks off and Mavis takes up a tie from a man sitting a few tables from her. That guy is Luca who owns a non-profit organization that helps immigrants with paper works. They end up having a great time. For the first time, Mavis feels relieved and comforted by Luca. They share a great bond.

Mavis is hired as a full time stylist for Natasha but she refuses to take that and has adream to open her own studio or place she can sell her designer clothes and stuff. She becomes a plus-size designer.

Mavis meets Jacque after a long time and they share a moment. Luca and Mavis together, Mavis’s mother comes and warns her about her choices and her father tells her that he cheated on her despite that, they forgive each other and are happy now. Because of this Mavis accepts Jacque’s proposal but later realizes that they never would be together and she confesses her love for Luca by surprising her in Italy.

Mavis finally found her true love and is happy not to think about the future. Throughout the series Mavis talked about how she felt about her body now and then finally found her happy place. Not only did she bur her friend Marley found some peace in her fast pace career and found she was a lesbian. Khalil found how happy he was to not fool around with women and settle for one. Whether it’s a model or a normal human being, everybody deserves to be happy with what they have.

Out of 5, we would give 3.5 stars to Survival of the Thickest.
