With the exception of a few stills, every new look at Venom in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 game made by Insomniac Games has been pretty much cut and dry. However, this new picture of the symbiotic beast may be our favourite look at the character yet.
This portrayal of Venom is the most comic-accurate we will undoubtedly ever get, and it also poses a sneaky threat to both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. This includes the gigantic spider emblem that hangs on his chest, as well as the cartoonishly long tongue and vicious teeth. Taking a brief break from it, we can focus on the background of the still, where two Jeeps are flashing their lights.
What the team of Spider Man have to say about this upcoming Venom look in the movie
Senior art director Jacinda Chew, senior narrative director Jon Paquette, and senior creative director Bryan Intihar said the following to EW:
When you consider how he differs from Spider-Man, it becomes incredibly interesting. The symbiote is sometimes used as an analogy for the evil that the host is battling. Why then does he oppose Spider-Man?
I don’t think you can get much more different from Doc Ock than you do Venom, so that’s what we decided to do. It has to do with Peter being far more involved in the production of Venom, power, strength, and feeling slighted. That, I believe, is what drew us.
The fact that Spider-Man constantly has to make compromises is one of his best qualities as a character, continues Paquette. “That mill gets a lot of grist from the symbiote, so to speak.”
The question of how much [Venom] talks was one of the difficulties we had during the filming process. Do Venom’s lips have lips? was one of the early notions we worked on, as I recall. Does he chuckle? Is he grinning? Does he smirk? Making this creature frightful and threatening while also, I suppose, making it relatable is a delicate balance.
Venom serves as both the host and the symbiote for us. Without the two of them being fused together, it cannot be created. That relationship is what Tony stands for. If anything, I believe that Tony’s casting increased our confidence in the character’s aesthetic design.
Fans predict different theories of Venom for the upcoming Spider Man 2 movie
A widely accepted notion with some supporting evidence is that Kraven changes into Venom midway through the plot of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The idea that Kraven has travelled to New York to take out the many heroes and villains who call the city home may lead to a scenario in which, when Kraven is defeated, the symbiote linked to Peter Parker bonds with Kraven, transforming Kraven into Venom. This would most likely happen once Peter is able to free the symbiote’s hold on him and it and Kraven become fixated on finding him.
The primary piece of evidence put up by fans to bolster this notion is the pattern shown on Venom’s chest in the artwork displayed during the Summer Game Fest Showcase. Although Spider-Man’s chest has a similar spider design to Venom’s in the past, this version of the villain has a different pattern, especially around the shoulder area, than Spider-Man’s symbiote outfit. Instead, this pattern resembles Kraven’s vest’s design, suggesting that the two have bonded and that Venom has adopted some of Kraven’s design as a result.
