Sex/Life Season 2: Netflix orders second season of marriage drama

Netflix boasts a healthy sex life and is sending its in-house production “Sex/Life” into renewal. The streaming giant has ordered a second season of the drama series, which launched on June 25, 2021. According to Netflix, particularly strong viewing figures led to the decision. Most recently, the company had already enjoyed sustained success with the comedy “Sex Education.
According to Netflix, more than 67 million households tuned in to the first season of “Sex/Life” within the first four weeks of its release – although this only means that at least two minutes from at least one episode were watched at a time. This would definitely be a top 10 audience for a Netflix production, behind the first seasons of “Bridgerton” and “The Witcher” or “Lupin.” However, due to Netflix’s increasing subscriber numbers, top viewership numbers naturally increase over the years. In the U.S. alone, according to the extrapolation by Nielsen, which was not officially commissioned by Netflix with the measurement, 1.44 billion minutes of the series were streamed (this corresponds to about 32 million episodes of 45 minutes; the opening season has 8 episodes).
What is certain is that the main actors Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel, Adam Demos and Margaret Odette are back for the second season, as is series creator Stacy Rukeyser (“UnREAL”). The new episodes will once again be produced in Toronto, Canada.
“Sex/Life” is based on BB Easton’s memoir, “44 Chapters About 4 Men,” with the series adapting the nonfiction book as a fictional story. At the center is Billie Connelly, who is less than thrilled with the state of her marriage to hubby Cooper, with whom she also has no real exciting sex life. Using creative means, Billie tries to provide some variety herself: she starts writing down a “diary” of her past experiences and fantasies. She has no idea that her husband is reading along there. However, Billie’s former flame Brad also reappears in her life.
Sex/Life Season 2: Netflix has now released the official trailer
FORWARD: At the center is Billie Connelly (Shahi), who misses a few things in her marriage to Cooper (Vogel), first and foremost a really exciting sex life. Using creative means, Billie tries to provide some variety herself: she starts writing down a “diary” of her past experiences and fantasies. She has no idea that her husband is reading along there. Then Billie’s former flame Brad (Demos) reappears in her life …
The second season picks up directly from the first season finale, when Billie actually wants to save her marriage with her husband Cooper, only to return to her lover Brad in hopes of continuing their romance. But Brad doesn’t respond to her proposal, leaving open the question of whether there can still be a future for the two of them together.
