House of the Dragon season 2: Here’s what happens next! No new season in 2023

Don't miss

“House of the Dragon season 2” is entering a new round on HBO and Sky. But how will the “Dance of the Dragons” continue and when do you expect the new episodes? We will tell you!

  • Production of a second season of “House of the Dragon” was confirmed just days after the start of season 1.
  • According to HBO boss Casey Bloys, the second season of the series will not be expected until 2024.
  • A total of four seasons are planned for the “Game of Thrones” spin-off, in which the “Dance of the Dragons” is the focus.

Although ” House of the Dragon ” is about the dance of the dragons, i.e. the war that almost completely destroyed House Targaryen from the inside, there was little of this in season 1. The Game of Thrones spin-off took its time, getting all the characters in position for the first 10 episodes so the season 2 war could really begin.

But when does it continue and what events await us in the coming episodes? We will summarizes for you what we already know about House of the Dragon Season 2.

House of the Dragon season 2: start date

It is not yet known when the second season of “House of the Dragon” will be released, but we are pretty sure we will not return to Westeros before 2024. This is also confirmed by the Chief Content Officer of HBO and HBO Max, Casey Bloys in an interview with the US magazine Vulture.

Filming for the second season is scheduled to begin in spring 2023. With 15 months between the start of Season 1 shooting and its release, we should expect a similar wait for Season 2 and not expect the new episodes of “House of the Dragon” until late summer or fall of 2024.

House of the Dragon Season 2: Storyline

We don’t expect particularly happy hours in “House of the Dragon” Season 2, because the war has begun. Aegon II sits on the throne in King’s Landing that actually belongs to Rhaenyra, meanwhile, who was crowned Queen of Westeros on Dragonstone and now plots her revenge.

She relies heavily on her dragons, but the High Towers also have winged support and with Vhagar even the largest of all dragons on their side.

Ryan Condal, one of the creators of the series, promises more characters and more locations for season 2. Season 1 took its time introducing the characters so that the audience was really interested and excited about the events to come.

There will be a total of 4 seasons of “House of the Dragon”, so the well-known story from “Fire and Blood” will be further stretched and embellished. Our spoiler collection reveals what we already know about future strokes of fate and the end of the war.

House of the Dragon Season 2: Cast and Production

Anyone who was bothered by the numerous time jumps in “House of the Dragon” season 1 can be happy: Ryan Condal confirmed that the events from season 2 will do without jumps and new casts of well-known characters. This also means that all known cast members of the series will remain until their story comes to an end.

Nothing is currently known about newcomers for Season 2, but that should change by early 2023 at the latest, when the start of filming is getting closer. While Ryan Condal remains on the show, Miguel Sapochnik announced early on that he would no longer be co-showrunner for Season 2.
