Lindsay Lohan is currently touring the U.S. and promoting “Falling for Christmas,” her first film after a year-long break from acting.
On the popular “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon, they not only talk about her Netflix Christmas movie, but also about one of Lindsay Lohan’s most famous films: “Freaky Friday”, or rather a possible sequel to it.
Lohan says she was contacted by her movie mom Jamie Lee Curtis while she was filming her next Netflix romcom, “Irish Wish.” That’s when Curtis first told her about her idea to shoot “Freaky Friday 2.”
Lohan was immediately enthusiastic and agreed that they should make it a reality. As it seems, some levers have even been set in motion for this.
As early as October 2022, Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Lindsay Lohan’s mother Tess in the 2003 film, spoke of a possible sequel on the U.S. program “The View.” She said that not only Lohan had already inquired, but also Disney itself.
The film is to be set a few years after the first part and again tell of the mother-daughter team Anna and Tess Coleman, who once again swap bodies.
Disney’s original “Freaky Friday” movie, based on the 1972 book by Mary Rodgers, is about mismatched family members Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Anna (Lindsay Lohan), who are constantly at loggerheads.
To bring the two closer together, a fortune cookie causes mother and daughter to switch bodies. Tess finds herself as the front woman of a girl band and a high school student, and Anna as a grown woman planning a wedding.
In her 2019 MTV documentary series “Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club,” Lohan previously talked about the future of her role Anna from “Freaky Friday.” She shared that Anne, as an adult, would now probably run for Secretary of State along with Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.
We will probably only find out how it will actually be when Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan actually make “Freaky Friday 2” a reality.
