In a YouTube clip from the official Netflix channel, the two actresses Katherine Heigl (Tully) and Sarah Chalke (Kate) speak out. In the Q&A video, they answer questions that are of great interest to fans. But they quickly come to the real point: will there be a “Firefly Lane Season 2” (Firefly Lane)? See for yourself:
Heigl and Chalke cannot yet answer the first question. What happened between Tully and Kate and Johnny at the end of season one? Jonny’s secret remains unsolved, but Tully and Kate’s argument has nothing to do with him, it’s a family matter. Of course, Heigl and Chalke would reveal too much at this point, because the answer to the question of how long you still have to wait for season 2 of “Firefly Lane” is much more interesting.

Firefly Lane season 2: Release date
The streaming giant Netflix announced that “Firefly Lane” will come to an end with the second season for the time being. In order to celebrate the farewell properly, however, this will be produced in excess length and will include a total of 16 episodes. These will be published in two parts.
The first batch with the first 8 episodes of the final season awaits us on December 2, 2022. The second half will then be released in the course of 2023.
Firefly Lane season 2: Trailer
Exactly one month before the release date of Firefly Lane Season 2, Netflix released a first trailer. This shows how Tully and Kate slowly fight their way back to life after suffering a number of misfortunes.
We see that Johnny survived the war and his ex-wife Kate is desperately trying to help the man back into a normal everyday life. Tully, on the other hand, is struggling with her past and is trying to regain her footing as a journalist with a documentary about the search for her father. It remains to be seen how well the two women will succeed.
What will Firefly Lane Season 2 be about?
During the first season of “Firefly Lane” the death of a main character is repeatedly implied. At first, viewers might think that Kate and her daughter Marah (Yael Yurman) will attend Tully’s funeral.
Then, in the final episode of Season 1, it appears Johnny (Ben Lawson) died in Iraq working as a war correspondent. But “Firefly Lane” reveals at the end that Kate’s father Bud actually passed away. Also, something significant happened between Kate and Tully that casts a shadow over their friendship. However, the Netflix series has not yet revealed exactly what that is. However, the book template already gives an insight into what led to the big argument between Tully and Kate.
Judging from US writer Kristin Hannah’s Firefly Lane template novels, it was Kate and Tully’s professional collaboration that led to the problems. But the Netflix series could also deviate from the template novels “Firefly Lane” and “Like a Star in the Night” and develop a different drama that revolves around some of the series’ supporting characters.
Incidentally, in an interview with Oprah Magazine, actress Katherine Heigl ruled out that her character Tully slept with Johnny. Heigl stated, “I don’t think any friendship could survive something like this.”
